California band LeMans. They were a Mike Varney / Shrapnel Records assemblage in the early 80's.
The band was built around 2 very gifted guitarists from Chicago, Derek Frigo (Enuff Znuff) and Josh Ramos (The Storm, Hardline), as well as Bay Area vocalist Peter Marino (Cacophony, 9.0).
Their 1st album was raw, street metal with lots of guitar wizardry, while later albums were more AOR / hard rock.

I remember seeing their albums in the used stores but never heard them and there's a big difference in those two songs. Since I enjoy some AOR it doesn't bother me.

Funny story, I played rhythm guitar in our church band for a few years and our lead guitarist was a guy about 12 years older than me from the San Francisco area. He was an amazing guitarist, the guy had forgotten more stuff than I would ever learn. He played in several bay area bands in the 70's and 80's and when I asked him which ones he said "oh you've probably never heard of them". I made him tell me anyway. One band was an early incarnation of "Le Mans". I said cool, I've heard of them. He said "I seriously doubt that", so I started singing the chorus of "On The Streets" and his jaw hit the floor. Apparently he never recorded with the band because he and his wife just had a son, and he couldn't commit to tour, so he bowed out.

Found out about this group yesterday. They are kind of a blend of GNR and Faster Pussycat.

I remember them and who they really remind me of is Bulletboys. Like the sound but the lyrics are beyond ridiculous.

Here's a new one to me. The vocalist reminds me of Glenn Kaiser.

And another that I discovered while reading the comments to the previous video!

I remember Melidian, seemed kind of generic at the time but now, since that sound is passe, it sounds pretty good.
Never heard Red Dawn, little more AOR sounding.

Never heard of Red Dawn, they have a good singer.
Melidian - Used to have their album, yeah it was kind of generic.
Here's a very obscure NJ band called Adrian Dodz who put out one album in 1988.
It's not bad for an indie. Most of the song lyrics though are the usual "bad girl gone wild" stuff though, but this one is kind of tame:

Hmm, I'm surprised we haven't covered EZO yet.
They were probably the quintessential Japanese sleaze rock band, although they were heavier and had more musical talent than most:

You don't think Loudness should get that title?

I never considered Loudness to be as lyrically focused on sex and/or debauchery as EZO, no.Black Rider wrote:You don't think Loudness should get that title?

I just remembered these guys.
The singer is John West from Royal Hunt and Artension (and a few Shrapnel solo records).
He also sang with Badlands (1992-93).
This was his first band.

Sounds better than he did with RH, he didn't fit them imo.

I remember Hericane Alice, another band a little too late to the scene.

Julliet's debut album featured Frankie Banali on drums and was produced by Frankie Sullivan of Survivor.
The album was released in 1991 and sold over 300,000 copies before grunge took over.

Kik Tracee was an L.A. band similar to L.A. Guns, Britny Fox, and Faster Pussycat. Dana
Strum of Slaughter fame produced their 1991 album No Rules.

I did not see either band mentioned and I went through all 4 pages of the thread twice.
On what pages are either band so I can see where I missed the posts? It is possible I'm just losing my mind....

I'm pretty sure I posted Kik Tracee but there are some videos no longer available so maybe it was one of those. Either way, good band, I still listen to them on occasion.
