Lyrically "Clean" Hair/Glam/Pop Metal
Up front, of course I'm not only counting bands that sing from a Christian worldview. Rather, I'm looking for stuff that you've found to be less offensive—such as less sexual—than is the norm for this genre.
For example, I find most of classic Dokken to be clean enough for me to enjoy. There's an occasional innuendo there, but it's certainly nothing like what we often find in the genre. I could even toss most of Winger here.
What say you?
PS: Yes, I know this is subjective to a degree.

Maybe Europe as well, but it's been a while since I really listened to them.
I'm sure they're out there, I just can't think of any right now LOL.

Badlands (albiet I only heard the first album)
Dare (again, I've only heard Out of the Silence and some tracks from Blood from Stone)
Icon (granted, much like Badlands you only have 3 albums)
and for a newer act, the most recent Crazy Lixx album (Rise Above) is pretty clean/positive lyrically (some of their earlier stuff had questionable lyrics though).

Re: Lyrically "Clean" Hair/Glam/Pop Metal
What I would find very useful is listing a particular album and saying "all the songs except x and y are clean" or "these songs from this band are clean."
Obviously that requires a bit more work. And some albums I can't find lyrics for. I just know that some albums are dripping with sexual lyrics while others are more tame.
A database of non-sexual hair metal songs would be very helpful here.

Re: Lyrically "Clean" Hair/Glam/Pop Metal
I like this band musically but unfortunately sex and lust are hot topics for them (pun intended).
Here are their "clean" (non-sexual) songs:
From "Vinnie Vincent Invasion" (1986):
- Twisted
- Back On The Streets
Out of 10 songs, only 2 made it! That's pretty bad, lol.
From "All Systems Go" (1988):
- Love Kills
- Star Spangled Banner
- Let Freedom Rock
- That Time Of Year
- Ecstasy
- Breakout
Out of 11 songs, this one fared much better. "Ecstasy" is more like a love song than a sex song.

Fear No Evil: Cant find anything sexual here
Revolution: Heaven It Cries, Can We Find A Way, Stuck On You, Hard To Say Goodbye, Rocky Mountain Way (cover), You're My Everything, I'm Gone

Re: Lyrically "Clean" Hair/Glam/Pop Metal
This is actually truly hysterical to me. All these years I assumed that album was dripping with sex lyrics based on the cover, the "Up All Night" song, and the screechy posturing of Mark Slaughter. But you're right, I looked at the lyrics and they are not nearly as bad as I had thought. Obviously still not godly but not lascivious. Go figure....WildWorld wrote:Stick It To Ya: Pretty much clean save for possibly Up All Night.
That's why this exercise is valuable IMO.

Now Jamie's been in love before, ahh-ahh
And she knows what love is for, ahh-ahh
It should mean a little, a little more, ahh-ahh
Than one night stands, woo

Re: Lyrically "Clean" Hair/Glam/Pop Metal
EDIT: Ok, just re-read some of the lyrics on my copy (admittedly, I havent listened to it in a while), and there are some more sexual lyrics than I remember. Still, the three songs I mentioned, plus Take the Dog Off the Chain, Bad Blood, So Savage the Heart, and Dream Train are all pretty clean songs.
Krokus-Headhunter (skip Night Wolf), The Blitz (skip Hot Stuff), Change of Address
Skid Row-Slave to the Grind (skip Psycho Love and GTFO, if you can find the censored version, it deletes the latter one altogether and replaces it with the much better Beggar's Day)

I remember deleting that one from my list because of the language. Good to know that there's a censored version of it out there.WildWorld wrote:Skid Row-Slave to the Grind (skip Psycho Love and GTFO, if you can find the censored version, it deletes the latter one altogether and replaces it with the much better Beggar's Day)

FYI, the censored version of the album is out of print (and the one used for digital distribution and the recent vinyl box set is the "original"), but it can be found pretty easily (just check the back cover and see if "Beggar's Day" is on it).
