That's how I see it, as I don't count the joke tracks in scoring the album.TZ75 wrote:If What A Joke was trimmed down to a serious EP, it would be far better than Stay of Execution and would rival the s/t and Weapons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that one short section near the end of It's the Beat is the closest Jimmy's gotten to a death growl.TZ75 wrote:The serious thrashers on Joke are more intense than Weapons. Oh, the funny thing was I was actually going to describe that as "Roger Martinez but better". Turns out Roger just sounded better than usual on there.MagnusPrime wrote:StevenCressler wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but that one short section near the end of It's the Beat is the closest Jimmy's gotten to a death growl.TZ75 wrote:The serious thrashers on Joke are more intense than Weapons. If you didn't already know, Roger also appeared in Tourniquet's The Test for Leprosy in the middle part of the song.

For me I love the extra sense of beauty that it adds to a style of music which, despite being my favorite by far, can be lacking in that.Son of Nun wrote:StevenCressler wrote:I don't either. Roger and Steve were the faces of Christian metal in the early 90’s. Along with Ted and Gary from Tourniquet (winning multiple HM polls) and Jimmy P. Brown was also held in high regard.
The Crucified was the big buzz band for a long time too! They were known to have the best shows.

D’s debut is overrated. Super important for Christian thrash? Absolutely! Good album? Absolutely! But Weapons was a HUGE leap forward in the songwriting department.
