You missed everyone agreeing that Ghost Ship is the best Theocracy album. It’s official now.

To defend Neal Morse, he says all the time that his concept albums are meant to be played from beginning to end. He only breaks them up into tracks for the convenience of listeners. I prefer them broken up into more tracks, like he does in "?". Last year I went through and made a second version of Sola Scriptura and made separate tracks of all the little songs so I could listen to each individually.

Thanks everyone for dialoguing on this. I'm actually happy I wasn't around to respond, as now I can read and try to understand each person's views without mine getting in the way.

I won't start up the debate again, as I don't think I have anything new to add and it looks like it's run out of gas anyway. But I've got some stuff to think about and some verses to study!

^ Sinsidious, Deified, Liar… Fool or Messiah, Return to Dust are all standouts to me. I liked this album upon first listen and it just gets better and better with each listen. Definitely, in the AOTY category for me. All great songs….even the ballad is ok cause it’s short and a reprieve between heavy songs.

Tbh I’d also put the debut above MoS if it weren’t for the latter’s title track. Both are better than Mosaic though

At this point, Mosaic is my favorite Theocracy album. I love Red Sea. Me coming around to that track (which really took awhile) was the key.

My first Theocracy album was the debut. I remember being disappointed in Mirror of Souls at the time of its release. I was thankful for the better production, real drums, and Laying the Demon to Rest may still be my favorite Theocracy track but the album itself didn't top the debut for me. My views of MoS have softened and increased over the years but this board's high view of it baffles me. When they re-released the debut with real drums and improved production it retipped the scales to the debut.

Other Theocracy albums have mostly really good songs, with a few merely OK songs. Ghost Ship has a lot of merely OK songs, with a few really good songs

AtWB is the album that frustrates me, because the good songs are SO GOOD, but it’s their most inconsistent overall.

I don’t think there’s a bad song on AtWB. In fact it’s “worst” song (Drown for me) is probably the best “worst” song on any theocracy album. It’s highlights aren’t quite on the same level as the highlights of S/T and Mirror, but they are really good nonetheless
