Tried to watch Sharknado, but after 10 minutes I had to bail for fear the stupidity was contagious.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Just watched season 1 of Lost. Quite addictive, I'll most likely be watching all 6 seasons. I avoided this show during it's normal run as I assumed it was just another Survivor type reality show.

My wife made me watch it last night. Horrible but we had a good laugh. There's a scene where a shark flies out of hte tornado (yes, you read it correctly) and into a Japanese restaurant. I looked at my wife and said "OOH, yes, we have very fresh sushi here."

One of my all time favorite TV shows. It would take me a while to calm down from each episode with the way they would leave you hanging. It is also one of the few tv shows that has made me cry. More than once.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
Started watching "Heavy Metal" on Netflix with my wife last night. It seemed alot better to my 12 year old brain.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
Haha yeah I don't think that movie was intended to be watched by anyone older than 16... It's a fun one for what it is though I guess. (I haven't seen it since I was probably about that age either; perhaps it's better that way...)
Speaking of acid-trip animated films, Wizards was on at a bar I was at with some friends last week. Have you seen that? Dang that movie is weird... I kinda want to watch it now though; it looked really interesting. My sister used to love The Last Unicorn when we were little; that's another psychedelic cartoon of the same era. Any other fans here?

King Solomon's Mines (1985 version). Has very little (if anything) to do with the book. Also saw Van Helsing. It was ok, but i think it would have worked better as a tv show or at least miniseries.

My wife and I are currently watching through all of the Star Trek pictures and we just finished up The Final Frontier last night. We both have just recently become interested in Star Trek and, as such, have never seen any of the movies before. Needless to say (spoiler alert), I am glad that the initial "God" in the movie wasn't actually God because that would have been one of the corniest things in the entire history of cinema otherwise, haha. All the same, it was a fun and entertaining movie if not a particularly fantastic one. We will see what The Undiscovered Country brings!

I don't know... Kevin Smith's Dogma had Alanis Morissette as God...TheMask wrote: I am glad that the initial "God" in the movie wasn't actually God because that would have been one of the corniest things in the entire history of cinema otherwise

William Shatner should have never directed that movie, it was not that good. I still accept it as part of Star Trek canon though. The original 4 movies were excellent and The Undiscovered Country sort of redeemed that tradition, even though it was not as good as the first four.
One side note about The Final Frontier. Mortal used that movie and gained some epic sound bytes from it for their Lusis album. (see below)

Haha, I had never heard of Mortal until now but I guess that would make sense since it appears to be an electronic project; cool tune though! Yeah, the first four movies were definitely better than the fifth one. I am looking forward to getting into The Next Generation movies as well.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I watched Calvary on Sunday which was fantastic. It's a heavy movie, yet is actually fairly funny throughout. I definitely recommend it, though it does earn its 'R' rating. It's an interesting movie and in addition to being primarily a story of one man's character, it also deals with the relevancy/role of the church in modern day, etc.

I wanted to like that one... but I dunno, I just couldn't get into it. I suppose I appreciated some of the social commentary it had though.
