Just got back from the theater with my kids. Finally watched the new Star Wars movie. I was actually a bit disappointed in it. I agree with what Kerrick said.

War - Starring Statham and Li
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
...and over my lunch break today, I started watching "Once upon a Time in the West" by Sergio Leone and starring such greats as Charles Bronson, Henry Fonda, Jack Elam and Jason Robards. I've never watched it before and I love the pace and the setting.

I thought it was ok... I was expecting a lot more from the guy who brought us [the stories of] 28 Days Later, The Beach, and Sunshine.
I watched The Revenant on Friday. It was pretty good! I'd definitely recommend it. It's pretty violent though so be forewarned. Great acting, script, characters, and visuals/scenery. My only complaints are that it was a bit longer than necessary and that the CG animals looked pretty phony/fake which took away from the gritty nature of the scenes IMO.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
↑ That's a good movie right there.
No secret I love horror movies.
I watched this for the cheese and luckily, the T&A was minimal, the gore was awesomely excessive and it was delightfully cheesy.
Sometimes the horror in these surprises even me.
Like them throwing the little dog as a distraction to get away. Most movies would only insinuate the monster getting the dog.
This one graphically depicted a brutal slaying of a small innocent animal. (in total B-Horror budget splendor of course)
Same with a "zombeaver" busting through a door and utterly destroying this dude's manhood.
It was insane! Like depicted as graphically as what happened towards the end of Cannibal Holocaust.
HAHA!!! I love it!

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Recently I was watching Samurai Champloo, a hillarious anime series.
Black Sea was a rather uninteresting Submarine flick with silly ideas astupid dialogue.
Homesman was a very depressing and hard western that I liked a lot. Very dark.
Lilo and Stitch was quite funny but a bit too much teaching what family might mean. And all had elephant legs. Even the humans.
Ironclad 2 was an unnecessary sequel with plenty of mild gore and no story at all. Bad lighting, bad effects. Not very entertaining.
Yeah, I know I have much time for movies.

Tonight I'm watching the new Nicholas Cage movie (new to blue ray anyway), "Pay the Ghost".

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Just watched The Kingsmen: The Secret Service. From the commercials I had high hopes for this movie. I loved the old school James Bond vibe that it gave, but was a little disappointed with the ending. The scene in the church was disturbing to me. I didn't like the way that the goriest part of the movie, and one that was probably done to elicit cheers from the audience for people getting their comeuppance, was a guy slaughtering everyone in a church (albeit a messed up one). But this is Hollywood, and what it does.

Finished "Once Upon a Time in the West" last night. That is one of the greatest westerns I've ever seen. I really enjoyed it and would put it up there with The Magnificent Seven, Open Range, The Outlaw Josey Wales and A Fistful of Dollars.
