I just suggest what I as a fan want to hear. I’m not trying to be critical. I also know it’s still just in demo form. They still can add some icing on the cake and finishing touches.

Awesome, should sound totally intense when completed.Temple of Blood wrote:

They really need a guitar solo or two. Kind of wanders into death metal territory.

average joe wrote:Agreed on some screams mixed in like on the Testimony album would add a nice touch. I wonder if Torone can still hit those screams? The problem is that it is typically that part of the vocals that seem to go with age. For example, Chuck Billy stays with the lower stuff mixed with more discernible stuff pretty much at all times now and never really hits any highs or shrieking screams. Phil Enselmo (one of the best at it early on) also seemed to lose that shrieking scream skill not long after Cowboys.
That said, Torone’s vocals have been on a 30 year sabbatical, so hopefully he can still mix in screams here and there, even if only in the studio. Bands like Killswitch, for example, have a vocalist that has been hitting those high screams for almost 20 years, so it can be done physically. Would be killer to add that element for variety if he can. Growls sound great though! I also like the spoken parts as a change of pace. I agree with the duration/repetition and lead critiques, but, man, killer return in the form of a demo. So refreshing to finally hear a band after such a long layoff actually return to something close to an original form without a total change in style or lyrical content. Congrats to Paul and Mike for pulling it off!
Does this song have those top-tier vocals that you say thrash metal has to have?

I have a feeling the song will not change much from this form to the final form, and that demo just refers to mixing/mastering. I could be wrong, but most bands don't "demo" like they did in the old days. We'll see.

Yeah, I’m just waiting for the finished production. I hope it sounds good.

Does anyone have any idea what musical direction the other half of Sacrament (the Erik Ney version) is going? Will they be more like the original thrash style? I can’t imagine anyone other than Rob Wolfe fronting them.

Re: Sacrament News + a new band arise...
Nope. Definitely not in this demo form, hence my critiques. Somebody else mentioned it almost has a death metal vibe vocally. Never been a fan of death metal vocals. I don’t recall saying any of the demo was “top-tier,” but would give them the opportunity to produce a finished product and respect the lyrical direction. Perhaps you mixed up my comments with somebody else, or just feel like I wasn’t critical enough. I listened again at normal volume (not just my phone) and added some thoughts without trying to be overly critical of their efforts on a demo.Temple of Blood wrote:average joe wrote:Agreed on some screams mixed in like on the Testimony album would add a nice touch. I don't know that it is impossible at this point for the two bands to share members, especially if there are no plans for shows anything.

Yeah, but what musical direction is the non- Mike Torone band gonna sound like? Will it be thrash or something else?

No telling. At least it has guitarists from Sacrament though. I expect it will have groove, as that was the direction they went in with Haunts. Who knows. It may never even come to fruition, hence the band split.
Re: Sacrament News + a new band arise...
Darn, every single song from Sacrament has now been yanked from Spotify.
Even "Slave To Sin" which was on there for years from some compilation.
They also yanked "What Is Rock For" by X-Sinner.
Now there is only 1 X-Sinner song left on there.
Other thrash / death albums by Mashiaj, Wicked's End, Deuteronomium, and others are gone too.

That's so odd! Yesterday it was completely wiped. There must have been some glitch or something. Now I need to put it the songs back in two of my playlists because I had removed them...grrr.
Update: The songs DID get deleted....then they put them back but as a different catalog #. The songs I had in my playlists were grayed out and I had to delete those and choose them again from the new entries.

Re: Sacrament News + a new band arise...
Does Sacrament and other bands get a percentage from the Christian Band Shirts website sales? Or does the site have legal right to print the album images without permission?
I’m just asking because I just received one a couple days ago. I would prefer that the band got paid in some capacity.

Yes, all bands there get paid.

Yes the bands all sign a rather detailed revenue-sharing agreement with the Christian Band Shirts site.

Very good!
That said, I hope they have a few faster tempo songs mixed in.
