Well even if they did they ain't gonna say it black and white are they.StevenCressler wrote:And I know they themselves also don't condone them.TZ75 wrote:… more regarding “Jump in the Fire” lyrics.
When I listen to Angel of Death by Slayer, I don’t condone the actions of Nazis. The song was written in a historical way depicting the horrors of the third Reich. It’s a mini horror movie set to music.

Not unless they were black metal. Nazi black metal artists don't try hiding it one bit, they literally have their own genre.Dustofyears wrote:Well even if they did they ain't gonna say it black and white are they.StevenCressler wrote:And I know they themselves also don't condone them.TZ75 wrote:… more regarding “Jump in the Fire” lyrics.

A lot of people consider Sabbath's "demonic" songs warnings with shock value thrown in. I can see that.Dustofyears wrote:My name is Lucifer please take my hand

A good example of the second one is Biogenesis’ Bet Your Soul, written by a Christian from the perspective of Satan:
“ Now I will introduce myself, I'm known by many names
Lucifer, the devil, I'm the keeper of the games
So if you don't believe I exist, that's okay, I'll keep the beat
The more you roll the dice, the easier you are to defeat
Roll the dice, play your hand
Draw your card, check mate
I'm the voice inside your head, I'll make you think your life's in vain
I'm the author of your sorrow, I'm the keeper of your pain
I know you think you know it all, but I bet you'll feel the heat
When you look away, you fall victim to my deceit
I bet your soul, bet your soul that you're wrong
What you believe, what you thought, that you knew for so long
I bet your soul, bet your soul that you're wrong
You know it all, but there's so much you could never know
What's your move
So now we must conclude this game, and you'll know my claim to fame
I'm the maker of every lie, and I just can't wait for you to die
So if you are satisfied, and your choices are complete
I will see you in hell, begging at my feet
I bet your soul, bet your soul that you're wrong
What you believe, what you thought, that you knew for so long
I bet your soul, bet your soul that you're wrong
You know it all, but there's so much you could never know
What's your move
Just believe the lies I tell
The unseen ones, the angels that fell
Just believe there is no God, just as they tell
I will gladly welcome you to hell”

There's also Red's "What You Keep Alive," and my own (currently unmade) "Existence Ignored".seth wrote:I think for songs like that what’s important is the intent. Is the writer trying to glorify demonic things or blaspheme? Or trying to paint a realistic picture of hell and Satan as a warning? Or something else, like just using it for shock value or “horror” aspect?

Sorry I mean the song Seth mention with Lyrics by Christian artist, sounds very much inspired by the rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil song, sort of anyway the beginning part, almost as if the artist knew the stones song and wrote a song in answer to the call.

Okay, that sounds interesting. Will check it out sometime.Dustofyears wrote:erm..not sure what that means...but anyway, Sympathy for the Devil by rolling stones it's Lucifer talking in first perspective and telling everyone where and what he's seen throughout history. The song you mentioned sounds like a rip off from that song. Check it out if you haven't heard it. Also Guns n Roses did a fine cover of it.

Re: Favorite song on Kill ‘Em All?
I wouldn’t call it a ripoff of the Rolling Stones, although there may have been inspiration especially with the “Now I will introduce myself” line. First of all, extremely different musical style, second of all, songs from the devil’s perspective worded in such a way as to be a warning are somewhat common. Bride has several, and Impellitteri has at least one for exampleDustofyears wrote:erm..not sure what that means...but anyway, Sympathy for the Devil by rolling stones it's Lucifer talking in first perspective and telling everyone where and what he's seen throughout history. I agree with Rolling Stones being overrated. I never liked them and how they even get compared to the Beatles is beyond me.seth wrote:Speaking of the Rolling Stones and the discussion earlier in this thread, they’re probably tied with Nirvana for the most overrated band ever to exist
