Re: Recently Watched Movies
Watched "The Confessions of Thomas Quick" on Netflix. Twice.
This documentary on "Sweden's Hannibal Lecter" is just packed full of crazy details. It's intense, like maybe even more brutal than Chikatilo's story. (He was Russia's "Hannibal Lecter")

"True Memoirs of an International Assassin" - don't judge, I was bored. If you want to shut off your brain for a couple of hours it's alright.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
^Hey now, you don't have time for that! You gotta release that album!!!
I watched Hacksaw Ridge last night. Overall I thought it was quite good. If I were to nitpick, I think the romance part of the movie was too corny/Hollywood and seemed forced. Also, the casting choice for the main guy probably wasn't the best. Once they got to Japan and bullets started flying, he did great. But the family and especially romance part he just seemed too quirky and weird and I had a difficult time relating to him or believing that people would interact like that. But from what I've read, the movie did a great job of sticking to the facts when it came to the heroic acts and such (which were pretty dang heroic...). Wow this movie is pretty intense though: very violent and not for the feint of heart. I recommend it.

I forgot that I watched "Zootopia" the other night with the boy. Not bad.
Also watched "Now You See Me" - not sure what all the hype was about, thought it was ok.

We love Zootopia here, seen it several times already. Twice while paying attention and once in the background.
It was another busy movie week here for us:
- The Rock (3rd or 4th viewing) - Did you know that cars will explode just from being near a high speed chase?
- Con Air (3rd or 4th viewing) - Nicolas Cage's southern accent here is WORSE than Kevin Costner's nearly non-existent British accent in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves!
- Ocean's Eleven (2nd viewing) - Very enjoyable with strong performances by all involved.
- Ocean's Twelve (2nd viewing) - A bit lackluster, lacked some of the magic the first firlm of this Soderbergh trilogy had, but still enjoyable.
- Excalibur (1st viewing) - It came out in 1981 and featured performances by now well known actors such as Patrick Stewart and Liam Neeson. Nearly unwatchable, either because the fantasy and medieval genres have improved so much over the last 35 years or because it really is just a terrible film. Come to think of it, Conan the Barbarian came out a year later and was so much more enjoyable than this film.

I have to give that a go again. I remember watching it when I was a kid and absolutely loving it.

Watch The Forbidden Room (Netflix) if you want to feel like you're on drugs and an Alzheimers patient.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
In case anyone here loves the Alien franchise as much as I do, here is an amazing deal for you. The entire Alien Anthology on Blu-ray, movies 1-4 with their director's cuts, and a ton of special features, in a beautiful box and book, is only $20.00 today at Amazon.
A couple years ago, this was the price and I bought it. You will not be disappointed.

However, the discs don't come out of the pages too easily, so I removed them and keep them in normal cases and the box I have on display.
Here is a large picture of the back of my box so you can see what's included: https://i.imgur.com/FpTlCcr.jpg

Murder on the Orient Express (1974 version)
My wife's favorite movie and one of my top 5. It's definitely my favorite murder mystery, and the cast is absolutely superb (though I do think David Suchet is a better Poirot). It's a classic film for a very good reason.

Watched Ocean's Eleven last night for the 3rd time or so, and I agree with you. One of the best movies of it's kind. I watched Ocean's Twelve once years ago, and while it wasn't a bad movie, it didn't do a whole lot for me. Never saw the third movie.New Creation wrote:

Zootopia is a really cool movie. One of the things I loved about it is how much thought they put into the city and its society. They didn't just slap some clothes on talking animals. You could tell the creators spent a lot of time thinking about how the setting and interactions between the characters would actually work.New Creation wrote:deathisgain wrote:I forgot that I watched "Zootopia" the other night with the boy. Re: Recently Watched Movies
- The Ox-Bow Incident (3rd viewing) - If you have not seen this Henry Fonda movie, then you are missing out big time. One of the greatest westerns.
- Clue (17 bazillionth viewing) - If you have not seen this comedic masterpiece, with Tim Curry in one of his best performances, then you are missing out as well.
- Con Air (4th or 5th viewing) - I know I just watched it a week ago, but hey, my son was home and wanted to see it!)
- Doctor Strange - Really nice addition to the MCU. Not sure yet if it agreed with me. It is very good, but there was something missing and I just can't put my finger on it. More viewings will happen, it's definitely something I'd like to own, just not a favorite.

My wife and I watched 28 Days Later this weekend which is one of my favorite movies of all time. She really liked it a lot too. Haha she got pretty scared in a few parts.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Finally got to see "Dr. Strange" today with my wife. It was for our recent 23rd wedding anniversary. I enjoyed it. I have to say that there4 was a scene in there, that had the fan boy part of me want to raise a fist and go "YEAH!". I just felt the ending was a little lacking in the solution to the problem.
