Good yes, definitely better than Quantum, but nowhere near the level of Casino or Skyfall.

I liked it more than Skyfall and waaay better than Quantum of Solace. I think I saw half of Casino Royale, so I can't fully compare it that one.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
Casino Royale is the best but Spectre was decent I thought - at least better than everyone said it was. (It got pretty dismal reviews as I recall...) I don't remember Quantum at all haha. Skyfall was good but not for a James Bond flick. The whole final act home-invasion thing just didn't seem to fit I thought.
It's funny, growing up, my parents were very strict on what I could/couldn't watch. But James Bond movies - with all their sex, killing, sexism, and whatnot - were totally fine for some reason haha. I remember playing James Bond in first grade on the playground with a friend.

Let me guess, Timothy Dalton was your favorite Bond.

I mentioned Dalton as a joke, since he is widely regarded as the least favorite Bond. I figured this since our good friend deathisgain has odd choices for "good" Bond movies. All in fun, all in jest.

Ninja'd
Aww he wasn't THAT bad... I recently watched Hot Fuzz and he's pretty great in it as one of the main villains.
The first Bond movies I ever saw were Roger Moore so I always associated him as being the "proper" James Bond. Connery definitely wins "best" James Bond but as a kid, I naturally gravitated towards Moore. That being said, I thought Brosnan was great and definitely better than Daniel Craig (who's much too serious and moody for Bond).

I think Dalton was a good Bond, his two movies were darker than anyone up to Craig, I think Lazenby gets discredited as well, I dont like Moore as well as others, but The Spy Who Loved Me contains everything a great Bond movie should and thats why its one of my all time favorites. I think Moore had some other ok movies, like The Man With The Golden Gun and Live And Let Die. The rest of his catalog is sub par at best. Brosnan and Connery are my two favorite Bond's, I dont think Connery has a weak movie in his 7 outings, and Brosnan in Goldeneye was an amazing performanceKerrick wrote:Ninja'dNew Creation wrote:Let me guess, Timothy Dalton was your favorite Bond.

LOL! It would be Sir Sean Connery all the way. I think I've only seen one with Pierce Brosnan, and I thought that it was okay. Not sure if I saw any with Dalton.

You've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never criticize the Princess Bride."
Alldat, I think you may have liked the movie if you had seen it a long time ago ... before your sense of humor died. *joking*
How can you not like the scene with Miracle Max? To this day when my kids announce they are leaving to go do something, I often respond, "Have fun storming the castle."

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I've gotten about half way through '1984.' It's a pity that they chose to put so much sex and nudity. I keep skipping through, but I lose a lot of the dialog which really is the crux of the story. ;(

Call me oblivious, but I never knew they made a movie.

I think the last time I saw it was in 1984. I remember it being good. Had John Hurt and Sir Richard Burton in it.

I remember when it debuted. I've never seen it. I thought it important to see now as I'm trying to learn newspeak because of the current politics.deathisgain wrote:New Creation wrote:d@v!d wrote:I've gotten about half way through '1984.' Re: Recently Watched Movies
I don't remember sex being a major plot point in the book, so it sounds like they tried to sensationalize the movie somewhat. I read 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 both in the same year a few years back and I think I'll just leave them as that, books.
