Re: Recently Watched Movies
The latest actual movie I watched was Abduction (starring Taylor Lautner). A good case of turning off your brain and not questioning the plot too much, but enjoyable nonetheless. After that I watched the documentary History of the Eagles. That one was much more entertaining.

^What'd you think? It's doing pretty well at the box office I think but has received mixed reviews... As a kid I always thought Venom and Carnage were super cool though I think I've officially burnt out on superhero movies.
I watched The Endless last night. It exists in the same world as Resolution which I watched last week. I really liked it a lot and would definitely recommend to anyone who appreciates movies of the more cerebral, mysterious kind. If you do, watch Resolution first for sure though.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Halloween was good. However, it is confusing as they totally ignored all the rest of the films since the debut. None of that happened at all. Michael's body count is higher than he has ever had. Seeing Lorie Stroud's ruined life because of the original attack kind of makes sense, but I doubt she would have truly been planning to kill him all these years.
It was good, but I didn't find it scary. I think I am over the boogeyman. Michael terrified me as a 12-13 year old when I saw the first one on VHS years after it came out. Now, he just doesn't hold the same mystic. I want to know WHY he doesn't die. I want to know WHY he snapped in the first place.

Gotcha. Well, I've only ever seen the original anyways and none of the sequels so if I do see this one, at least I won't be super confused haha.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Over the weekend We watched The Case For Christ movie with my parents. I did not think it was very good unfortunately. I had read that it was much better than the typical Christian movie and thus had somewhat high expectations... but it was no different than the rest of that type of movie. For the most part, the acting was pretty good. And the scenes with Strobel interviewing/learning from the specialists in their respective fields were interesting, though too short and glossed over in favor of the much overdone family drama (alcoholic atheist father resists God and spoiler: finally gives in and everything's happy). There are a couple side-plots and characters that IMO didn't work very well either. I read the book years ago and liked it quite a bit. I recommend just reading it instead.
It's really too bad that Christians just seem incapable of making good movies... Especially in this day and age of pornographic, ultra-violent, and foul entertainment being totally mainstream (i.e. everything on HBO), how great a testament it'd be for Christians to rise up and make quality but wholesome entertainment. I'll get off my soapbox now.

^ Oh yeah, I saw that last year.
I would consider it to among the finest of the Jesus films.
I have changed my perspective when viewing Jesus films to just trying to focus on the message.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Fair enough. Even the message was a bit of a mixed bag for me though. The book focused on the historical, factual, and logical rationale behind Christ truly being who He claimed (claims) to be. (While there were definitely weak points in the book, overall it's pretty convincing and well thought-out.) I think the producers assumed that'd be too dry for a feature-film so they upped the drama and downplayed the whole point of the book which I think is unfortunate, though understandable. And while the movie laid it on way too thick IMO, the message of "you knew the truth all along, you just didn't accept it" is relevant and applicable. It's not how I would've structured the movie haha, but there is a good message to be gleaned there.
The thing that caused my wife and I to both reel back was when the Christian "guru" woman applied the promise to Ezekiel of a changed heart to Strobel as if she knew the will of God. That's a dangerous and rather un-biblical message. He has mercy on those He chooses to have mercy on (Romans 9:18).

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I was expecting TC4C to be a documentary. It wasn't, and when I let go of that I was ok with the movie. For a faith film, it really wasn't bad. Lee Strobel having a hand in the realization of the movie was a plus.
