Me too. I went on a Burt Reynolds kick recently with his passing.
Deliverance: Whew! I had seen this many times over my years. The last time was about 18 years ago before I moved up to Georgia. What I didn't know all tho years, is that I watched a "tame" TV version. The "squeal like a pig" was much rougher than I remember. That being said, I think this is Burt's best performace of his career, and sadly, I think it started going down hill after that. "White Lightning" probably comes in next, with "Smokey and the Bandit".

Deliverance is a really excellent movie, but boy that one scene...

You mean when Burt insisted on going over the water fall himself instead of letting them using a dummy (like the director wanted)? I know, horrible he was nearly drowned in the pool at the bottom...it's hard to watch.

OBVIOUSLY I was talking about the scene where Jon Voight tried to shoot the deer with the bow!!! How did he miss?!? It was RIGHT THERE. Ridiculous.

Star Trek - Horizon
Fan film set in the Enterprise era of ST. I wasn't expecting much going into it, but found it surprisingly enjoyable and really well done for a fan production. Far from perfect, but worth a look if you like Star Trek. You can tell a lot went into this. Too bad CBS cracks down on fan films. This feels more authentic than Discovery or the Kelvin Timeline stuff.

There are a lot of really well done fan productions out there! I wish CBS wasn't so ridiculous about them being madeVerbum Lux wrote:Star Trek - Horizon

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Yesterday I re-watched the latest MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. So glad I did as the first time I saw it on premiere day I was so lost in the first half and then so many twists and counter twists that the movie should have been called Twister, LOL.
Currently watching the latest TOMB RAIDER. Really enjoying it so far.

Oh yes, that scene was rather cringe-worthy as well. I was super embarrassed for him.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I had a really bad weekend for movie choices that I will refer to as the Trilogy of Terrible. I started with Hereditary, followed by American Animals, and finished with November Criminals. Whatever I see next has to be better than those.

The House With a Clock in it's Walls.
I can't recommend it. But the lead actors were great.

Hereditary looked pretty gnarly... I've heard mixed things about it.
EDIT: speaking of trilogies, yesterday at Walmart I got the Man With No Name trilogy on blu-ray for $15. My wife has never seen The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly before and it's been a looooong time since I've seen the other two. I look forward to watching them.

You can't go wrong with a Clint Eastwood western.

For A Few Dollars More is incredible, very overlooked when compared to the other two, could be my favorite of the trilogyKerrick wrote:Hereditary looked pretty gnarly... I've heard mixed things about it.

Dare I ask... why? Haha sorry, but those just did not look very good to me.
For revenge flicks of the loving-family-(wo)man-avenges-their-murdered-kin type, did you see the 2004 version of The Punisher? IMO that one's pretty underrated.

Cool. Now I'm even more excited to watch 'em! It's been so long that I honestly remember just about nothing from them.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
And speaking of classic westerns... looks like The Wild Bunch is getting a remake to be directed by Mel Gibson! He's proven himself to be a pretty decent director IMO and The Wild Bunch is one of the better western flicks so I think this could be a solid flick. (Obviously, The Wild Bunch doesn't NEED a remake... but nonetheless, I'm looking forward to it.)

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Thought this might be a remake of Lucio Fulci's House of Clocks, but turns out this is a "family" film. And what studio in their right mind would remake a fulci flick unless it's Zombie?oldschooldoom wrote:The House With a Clock in it's Walls.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
This weekend we watched The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. Classic.
Last night while the wife and baby were napping, I watched Resolution: an indie sci-fi horror/suspense flick. It was quite good. It had a fairly unique and creative plot and well written characters. The ending didn't offer much "resolution" har har... but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Not exactly a "movie", but I just finished the second season of A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix. Excellent show that I highly recommend.
