Re: Recently Watched Movies
Interesting I also just watched Hot Fuzz and The World's End over the last two weeks. Worlds End was rather decent but I thought Hot Fuzz labored on for too long (even though it did have some really funny bits).
I would still count Shaun of the Dead as my favorite of the three.

Ha, I felt the total opposite with regards to Hot Fuzz vs The World's End! I could've done without the entire final post-apocalyptic ending of TWE but HF is just great in my opinion. I actually haven't watched SOTD in YEARS but need to rewatch it again soon... I remember thinking the first third was fabulous, second third a bit boring, and final third kinda depressing haha. Now that I know what to expect, I imagine I'll appreciate it more.

The Hunger Games
not sure I'm such a big fan of movies made for teens with teens as the hero and parents and adults are made out to be stupid

I understand but at the same time, I don't really like when the adults are so evil either. I read the books and they were pretty good and I understood the point but... I'm conflicted about it...
Anyway, to the point... we watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It was pretty amazing, I thought. Not as much of a comedy, though there were some funny parts. It had a message and that message was pretty cool.

^I wanted to see that one... I guess now I'll have to!
I watched The Three Amigos recently. Haha gosh that movie is so good. That was one of my childhood favorites though I hadn't seen it for years.

Well it has been a few years since I've watched SOTD, so maybe I am remembering it with more nostalgia and less of a critical eye.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Just watched "The Lost Medallion" with my 9yo son. I was pleasantly surprised at how well done the movie was.

Watcehd The Family with Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeifer and Tommy Lee Jones last night. It was surprisingly good. But there was a fair amount of language.

While I understand your sentiments here, the overall theme of the books is not this at all. If you haven't read the books, this would be an understandable mistake.
And there are several adults that are "good guys" too.

Love that one. I view it as an allegory of our lives as believers, on some levels.

The Adventurer: Curse of the Midas Box
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1376213/
It wasn't the greatest of movies, but it wasn't that bad. Especially to watch with young kids. It had a little bit of Indiana Jones mixed steampunk lite and National Treasure. The author that wrote the books is a Christian (Shadowmancer) and it is pretty wholesome. Some big stars in it as well.
