When I was younger I always imagined albums like that lol

Whenever I listen to it I feel like I have to listen to the whole thing. Listening to just one song feels like watching a movie, but skipping to a single scene then turning it off. Sometimes I’ll listen to just Dance Of Eternity or The Spirit Carries On, but I prefer listening to the whole thing.

This is one of my favourite concept songs from DT. My son was explaining some of the easter eggs hidden in the album and song that I hadn't heard of before.

Underrated album imo. They rip-off Muse so much lol.

Octavarium was a decent change in sound for DT and it released after Muse’s third album Absolution. I don’t think Muse rips off anyone, at least after they found their sound. Their first album (my least favorite) is pretty much just Radiohead rip off.

You think musicians like Dream Theater are ripping Muse off? They're not even in the same ballpark.

I guess it depends whether you think 'ripping off' is a good thing. 'Liberation' is a self-proclaimed homage to Queen. 'Knights' was a western soundtrack project. Quite a few of their songs would fit quite nicely onto a U2 album.

I don't have enough info to say whether or not DT was channeling Muse or not on Octavarium. It doesn't seem likely but hey I'm not an expert.

Does this count as groove metal? It's certainly not thrash.

Metallica was never officially know as groove. Mostly thrash metal and/or heavy metal with a pinch of hard rock

Tool: Laterus. It's interesting music, but not my favourite style.

Rhapsody: Power of the Dragonflame. This is my first listen to these guys, and I love this symphonic power metal!! I'll be checking out their whole discography.
