DESTROY ALL MONSTERS

A very fun entry into the Showa Godzilla films. Decent human characters and a huge cast of monsters. Probably most famous for the all-out brawl against King Ghidorah at the climax. Definitely worth a watch for a Kaiju fan.

I'd like to make a request of each post to show some kinda reaction to a movie or a rating number or a description or some sorta insight or a say 'recommended' or 'not recommended.'

Otherwise, there really is no point.  It's being like Citizen Kane and collecting statues for the sake of collecting statues. Throw a couple stars next to it please or whatever.  ANYTHING would suffice. This strikes up a discussion or just some curiosity for the reader into said flick if it's worth the time.

My daughter bought it on a whim from Amazon because she is a huge Jonathan Taylor Thomas fan. This 1999 movie was his last full length movie. It's a movie about the golden rule.

I watched The Court Jester for the first time yesterday. My eight-year-old was able to pay more attention than I expected. Rather hilarious, though I would need a second viewing to keep track of the subplots.

The Other Guys. Really funny movie, probably the best Will Ferrell movie I've seen.

John Wick: Chapter 4
I did not enjoy this one. The first 25 minutes were boring talk talk talk. Followed by a ridiculously long fight scene. Followed by lengthy talking about nothingness. Followed by another ridiculously long fight scene, ad nauseam. It's the same premise as the other John Wick flicks, a huge bounty is put on John's head. Seems every thug in the world are killing each other for a chance to kill John Wick. But there is a twist at the very end.

^^ I’m going to see it on Wednesday. I recently watched the first 3 in anticipation.

To be honest, while I enjoy the films, I think they’re overrated and too violent for my tastes. Give me the Bourne Trilogy any day.

Snow White (the 1930s Disney movie)

The oldest kids, both five years old, did not like the parts with the evil witch. At all.

Finally watched Maverick, it was decent enough but pretty typical.

I've never seen the original Top Gun (though thanks to all the parodies, I pretty much know all the story beats), but I thought Maverick was a good, fun film.

Maverick is way better than the original.

It was too predictable and they just copied characters from the original. It was fun but I won't go out of my way to see it again.

Maverick is hilarious in so many ways, I can't remember them all, but the film is a little silly. For one having Goose's son sing the exact same song that his father sang on the piano during the bar scene is so over-the-top in nostalgia-riding.  I couldn't help but roll my eyes.  'Hey, remember when Gilbert from Revenge of the Nerds sang "Great Balls of Fire" in Top Gun?'  By chance his son does the same thing in the sequel.

The final battle just straight up replicates the Death Star scene in Star Wars.  I was expecting Han Solo to come flying in and say "You're all clear kid, now let's blow this thing and go home."

Who were they engaging in the air strikes anyway?  I figured they were Canadian Mounties since it seemed close by to the United States and covered in snow.  Must be those pesky Canucks!!  They should have had Maverick look to the sky and scream "TRUDEAU!!!!" like Kirk in Wrath of Khan.

Anyway, I did like it for the most part, the action is well-shot and they didn't go overboard on CGI, which I was thankful for.

Saw John Wick 4 today. Overly violent and completely ridiculous, but I loved it. Definitely my favorite of the series.

On a side note, even notice how many action heroes have John as a first name? John Wick, John Matrix, John Rambo, John Spartan, if you add in superheroes you've also got Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Johnny Blaze (Ghost Rider), and John Walker (Captain America II/USAgent) and probably many more.
