My wife and I started watching The Valet (Disney+) last night. I had been ignoring it b/c it looked stupid. However, at 1/2 way through I haven't laughed that much in awhile! It's a paint-by-the-numbers romantic comedy about a public figure that finds romance with an obscure person, but it's been enjoyable and seems to have some good moral guidance (at least thus far in).

Last night I showed my wife Hot Shots for the first time. It'd been YEARS since I've seen it. We both laughed quite a bit and now I've gotta queue up Part Deux soon haha.

I love those Hot Shots movies.

The bulk of Oculus was quite good. The ending kinda let me down and I don’t think they utilized the premise as well as they could. But on the plus side, there’s no sex/nudity and the violence is pretty tame for an R-rated horror.

Right on. It's on my watch-list but I watch a movie maybe once every three months so it may be a while haha.

Yep! I don’t watch very much because I have a toddler and my wife doesn’t like horror. So, I watched Oculus over a few days on my phone on silent while I was rocking my kid when he was having trouble sleeping.

I thought it would be dumb and boring. Most of the movie is 2 people on a radio tower. I was pleasantly rewarded with suspense, twists and counter twists.

Child's Play, the 2019 remake. Kind of cheesy at times (then again, the originals also had some cheesy moments), but the end piece at the department store has some good tension.

After a recommendation here recently, I watched
All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)
It was quite graphic and sobering and based on a true event (WW1)
It was a remake of the popular 1979 movie that had major stars
which in turn, was a remake of the original 1930 All Quiet on the Western Front.
The original had no censorship and is considered the most violent American film of it's era. The Production Code was not strictly enforced until 1934. Universal Pictures deemed the subject matter important enough to allow the violence to be seen.
