Ok.
Pathogenic must be your favorite then ?
I could almost go with all Gary songs, but I still do like the contrast of the more traditional metal style of Guy included in the mix.
Yep, Pathogenic is my favorite, by a good bit. I like some of the Luke stuff too, I think Microscopic was strong. But all Gary songs would sound great to me too!

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
Microscopic view of a telescopic realm is the best album of Luke era. Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance is the best Tourniquet album ever.

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
Why not both?
Guy and Gary !!!
Gary for the agressive and thrashy parts and Guy for the unique special rest.
Perfect examples: Ark of suffering, Psychosurgery, En Hakkore ...
Can´t vote for that, so...Ritter (stop the bleeding performance)!

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
For me I loved Guy's vocals as my fav Tourniquet albums are Stop the Bleeding and Pathogenic Occular Dissonance
I did love a song from Vanishing Lessons which was Bearing Gruesome Cargo and in that song I think Luke's vocals rule!
Ive not really heard anything in the last few years by them I oughta check some recent stuff out

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
I like them all, except when Luke sings old Guy Ritter material. He just doesn't have the style for it.
Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
I might have said Guy 10 years ago... But these days, it's Luke by a country mile. I just don't have any time for the falsetto vocals. I think that Gary has a killer thrash voice, and I wish he would have done more vocals for them. My favorite TourniqueT album is MVTR followed very closely by POD. I think Guy's vocals sound the best on POD. STB is the rarest listen in my TQT collection.
As far as the TQT Ark stuff is concerned, I think it's great that Ted is keeping busy and putting out a lot of new music. I'm down with the "modern" influences. I would say that the Ark is more of a novelty listen, but I do enjoy it from time to time. It's not in regular rotation like MVTR, POD, VL, C2C, WMARD, and AB.
I will say this... 'The Slave Ring' is a pretty bad @$$ song! I love me some core! Haha!

Guy Ritter - 3 years w/ Tourniquet
Luke Easter - 20+ years w/ Tourniquet, still gets less respect for his contributions from some fans.

Well, if those 3 years have their best albums and the 20 years have their "worst", I don't think it's completely unfair to give more respect to the 3-year man than to the 20-year man.
(EDIT: just to be clear here, I don't think Tourniquet has any bad albums, so the word "worst" just means less good than the first three - the later albums are still all somewhere between good and phenomenal)
I'm a huge fan of Tourniquet, both new and old. There are only a handful of Tourniquet songs I don't like.
In this poll I voted for Guy Ritter, as he simply is one of the best metal/rock singers I know. Luke is not bad. I even think he did phenomenal job on Vanishing Lessons, and one of my all time favorite Tourniquet vocals are in Flowering Cadaver off Antiseptic Bloodbath. Luke really does fantastic job in the second half of the song (it's even perhaps my all time favorite Luke moment). But there is no way around it; Guy Ritter was really something else. The uniqueness and the passion just comes from him in a way that very rare metal vocalist manages to bring out.
I guess I'm really in "why not both" camp as I really enjoy both, but I think Guy Ritter deserves a vote here as he stands up right there next to the all-time greats of heavy metal. No amount of years in the band changes that.

No, I just find it ironic. If the guy stuff is better, then it's better.Temple of Blood wrote:Are we to think that is unfair?

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
Guy Ritter!!! Not really a fan of the Luke albums to be honest. Not that they're bad. Just not a fan.
"Stop the Bleeding" on the other hand ... fantastic album from beginning to end!
Also, Guy Ritter's band before Tourniquet (Holy Danger) is good too. Too bad they only released one album. What a shame. Guy and Dee Harrington had such incredible chemistry together.

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
Too bad he couldn't find another band to streamline his talents into. Wonder if he got black-balled after his t-quet days? Although the music industry changed for the worst after Pathogenic and there wasn't a lot of demand for a KD type a' vocalist.jaydeecrawson wrote:Guy Ritter only.

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
Guy did sing on the two Echo Hollow records. To be honest I didn't think either was very good. Couple of ok songs but NOTHING close to his work in Tourniquet.

When Guy Ritter wasn't trying to hard to sound like King Diamond he was always my favorite singer.

Guy never heard any KD until he was well into his career with Tourniquet.Believer12 wrote:When Guy Ritter wasn't trying to hard to sound like King Diamond he was always my favorite singer.

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
I like Luke on "Vanishing Lessons" and "Carry The Wounded (EP)" after that it is very hit n miss.
Guy was just unique enough to keep things very interesting for the four years (or so) he was in the band.

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
This thread inspired me to spin Pathogenic Occular Dissonance and after listening to it for the first time in years. I would change my vote to Gary I know he did most of the vox and I just love his style. But I also like Guy's style on the first album. Luke's I find not to be my cup of tea but I love the song Bearing Gruesome Cargo I just love that song. But its been many years since ive really spun anything so Im kinda curious to check out the rest of the catalog after which my opinion will prob. change I used to have Carry the Wounded or Crawl to China? I cant remember but I remember that I enjoyed that album too.

Re: Tourniquet: Guy or Luke
I lost track of Tourniquet after "Crawl to China". That album was a bit too weird for me.
I kinda wish they had stayed the same lineup as the first album.
But I understand things change ...
