Youthanasia is a weak Megadeth album.  Some of these should be fast songs, but the producer convinced Dave to keep the tempos low so they could be hits.  The production is middling and safe.  There's no progressive moments and hardly any over-the-top musical moments or guitar exchanges.

There was nothing going on in metal when it came out at the time and it could have been the album to bring a resurgence, but it is a flat record with it just decides to dwell in the mushy middle with no sharp edges.

You might listen to it now and think its not that bad, but metal needed an adrenaline shot in the arm at the time and this did not deliver the goods.  It's a big block of moldy cheddar.

I will note that I no longer agree with my comments about ranking Kill 'Em All lower than 72 Seasons. Or even the Black Album for that matter.

Yeah, I'd call that their best song (even though it isn't their quirkiest by any means lol), though Toxicity is easily their best album. Thankfully it's also the only one without any f-bombs. They're my best example of "I still listen to this, but I'd listen a lot more if the lyrics were cleaner." I don't mind the language on BYOB much though, as they're discussing a serious issue. But Toxicity doesn't have too much of that (though I still usually don't listen to Bounce, at least not more than the intro).

The four levels of objecting to lyrical content and loving the music are
"I object to some of the lyrics, but not really enough to make me listen less" (Best example: Metallica)
"Some songs I'll avoid, but most are completely fine" (Megadeth)
Already explained level three, which is SOAD (side note, I do really like bands like SOAD and Tourniquet that do creative things.)
And level four would be Slayer, which is "I love the music, but I mainly avoid listening due to the lyrical content."
I agree with everything said about SOAD. Wonder what you think their quirkiest song is? Radio/Video is up there imo. But here's my version of the four levels listed here.
"I disagree with some lyrics, but not a whole lot" or "they have some cussing, but very rarely more than one song an album" (Metallica)
"Some songs are bad lyrics but the rest are completely fine" or "early stuff is no, newer stuff is much better" (Megadeth)
"Great music, lyrics aren't super super bad, WAY too much swearing" (SOAD, RATM)
"Good music, bad message and/or anti-christian lyrics" (Slayer, Ghost(not metal), Mayhem(not good music though lol))

I just think it's way too much on RTL. RTL would probably be higher on my list if it had the same feel as MOP.

1. AJFA
2. MOP
3. 72S
4. TBA
5. RTL
6. DM
7. KEA
8. HTSD
9. L
10. RL
11. St.A

Here's some more hot takes. United Abominations is the best Megadeth album Very Happy. Slayer is way overrated. St. Anger is not too far gone to save(please tell me someone actually understands that).

I just noticed your signature, it's hilarious 😆

UA is great, but not better than RiP. Slayer isn't overrated musically IMO, but I like them less than most due to lyrics. And yes, St. Anger has potential to be much better (I'm assuming what you said was a reference to the song, right?)

Me saying St. Anger is not TOO FAR GONE TO SAVE is a reference to Too Far Gone? from 72S. Here's where I got my sig from: https://open.spotify.com/track/3yJMVqIc11dtKmqPWTV9Ck?si=e7761e4babb34c20

He just flew into the sun.

Also, Rust in Peace is objectively Megadeth's opus.

And no, Slayer is not overrated. A lot of Christians just say that because they don't like their lyrics. I don't either, but Slayer's musical reputation is deserved.
