On the subject of Saviour Machine, imo their best song both musically and lyrically is The Revelation. Incredible poetic lyrics, 20 minute song, it’s basically their Mirror of Souls. And it only ever appeared on their demo for some reason.

Well, as poetic can mean a number of things depending on the context (IMHO), here are a few good options:

Holy soldier --> Last Train
Though it is not a complex writing, I love the analogy of Catching a train with the second coming of Christ.

Holy Soldier --> Sand
Last song in a very underrated album, great lyrics and analogy.

Petra --> Looking through rose colored stainglass windows

Blood good --> Crush me

Rez Band --> Across These Fields Reprise

BTW, PETRA and REZ have good lyrics in this poetic vein.

It sounds like a rough sketch of better things to come. They recycled some of the best ideas and put them to later use like lyrics in The Stand.

I'm glad they dropped the punk influence, it makes them sound sloppy.

Punk influence? I don’t hear anything that reminds me of punk in the slightest on that
