Good nu metal (which is rather rare) is better than a lot of hair metal (which is also mostly not that great), but overall i’d take the latter any day. Especially good hair metal like Rage of Angels, blows any nu metal out of the water

Hair metal rules. Sadly, most secular hair metal is too sexual for me to enjoy anymore.

Also, regardless of Neal Morse’s personal beliefs, I’ve never heard anything heretical in his music, which for the most part is explicitly Christian

Broken Chromosomes has one of the best vocal performances ever. VL's vocals are great though

Dangerously Close is Bloodgood’s worst album by a wide margin.

Maybe me strongly disliking VL is the hot take here lol. I think of it in the same category as Metallica’s Load/Reload, huge downfall from their previous greatness, but not quite St. Anger level. At least TQT made a good comeback though

1. VL is way better than the Loads, which still aren't bad
2. DM was a great comeback

actual singing is...when singing he sounds excellent,

True Strength sounds cheesy (the bad kind)

Holy Soldier's first two albums put anything Stryper did into a coma in the ICU ward.

And... in an alternative universe, if Holy Solider had started around the same time as Stryper and had as many albums and stuck to their style, getting slightly heavier with a few borderline thrash riffs mixed in the present day albums, they would've been the most popular band in Christian metal and would be known in the secular world.
