My “worst” is Currency in a Bankrupt World, not terrible but kind of boring for Theocracy. Although the whole second half of Ghost Ship (besides Easter) was kind of in that category for me

Agree, Ghost Ship has a great first half though, almost every song in it is heavier than all the other Theocracy songs (besides of course Laying the Demon to Rest).

You’ll probably like Mosaic then, a lot of it goes in a heavier direction (not quite to the level of LtDtR though)

5. As the World Bleeds 8.33/10
Not bad by any means, but compared to the other albums, this has the most songs that are under an 8.5/10

4. Ghost Ship 8.3777.../10
The first half is great and heavy, and the second half has some good songs too, but none of the highs are that high.

3. Theocracy 8.4111.../10
This has my favorite sound, i just think the two above have better collections of songs. This album has their best hooks.

2. Mosaic 8.51/10
Their heaviest album, very consistent.

1. Mirror of Souls 8.7125/10
Their three best songs (MoS, LtDtR, and AD) are all on this album. Easy pick for me.

Self Titled has never gotten traction with me. I don't know why. I need to listen again.


The rest? Well, Smith must be a musical genius. They are all so incredible, with almost no let-up.

Even The Gift if Music, cheesy goofy song that it is, is a good song.

Have you listened to the S/T with real drums and remaster? If not, check it out…it sounds better than original.

All cheese aside, Gift has a ripping ending which saves it. It’s still probably their worst song… if that’s even possible.

I’m genuinely stumped by all the hate for The Gift of Music. I love that song. Is it their heaviest? No, but it’s still good.

I don’t actually hate it as much as I claim to. But it’s just SO cheesy. And I like cheese. But this is more like that cheese they eat overseas that lets the maggots grow inside it.

The Theocracy opinion that still boggles my mind is thinking As the World Bleeds is better than Mirror of Souls. I will never understand that view.

Guilty! ATWB is their best album, by a pretty wide margin.

It easily has the most filler: Nailed (starts great but loses steam), Drown, TGoM, LotW…

I think all their albums have some filler. But I disagree with you about Nailed, that’s a terrific song.

This album is flawless. The Gift Of Music is absolutely amazing. The weakest point on the album is probably 30 Pieces Of Silver.

2. Theocracy
I still need to finish listening to the album but so far it's amazing.

I'm in the process of listening to the rest of their albums but they have a lot.

I just listened to TGoM again. 

The lyrical idea is great.

The second half is great. 

The first half is still not my jam. Sounds more like a Disney soundtrack than a Theocracy song.

Me either, till the remaster came out! 

I love Theocracy, but I haven't listened to their hole discography. Probably cause their albums are not short. But I think I know enough to rank 3 of the 5.

1. As The World Bleeds
The only album I've heard all the way though. I Am, Nailed, The Gift Of Music, Altar To The Unknown God, amazing songs. 10/10 album, hope to get it on vinyl soon.

2. Ghost Ship
Haven't heard the full album but def feels heavier than ATWB. I absolutely love Stir The Embers. 

3. Theocracy
The debut. Hard to believe Matt did this entire thing solo. Amazing songs on here, Ichthus, Serpent's Kiss.

Haven't listened to enough of Mirror Of Souls or Mosaic to rank them. But this band is amazing, would love to see them live. Might become my favorite band soon.

Haven't heard Mosaic yet, just ordered it, but the rest of your ranking looks close to mine. Though I would have Mirror of Souls at least at 9.5! 

Their show at the Immortal Festival last year was fantastic, the final encore by popular demand was "Laying the Demon to Rest", and it smoked! 

As the World Bleeds is the closest they’ve come to making a merely good album instead of a truly great one. I still like it a lot, but them’s the facts.

I've moved it up to a 8.725 

Keep in mind that I score albums based on an average of the scores for the songs, so I don't have any albums that are a 9.5. My favorite album (And Justice for All) is at a 9.166.../10
