Re: Recently Watched Movies
Tried to watch Big Trouble in Little China. I couldn't get through it.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - Good stuff.
I want to see Independence Day because I heard it's a prequel to Mass Effect. That sounds interesting.

My biggest gripe with these types of movies is some of the impossible odds overcome are ridiculous.
It was okay. I felt like the aliens were just rip offs of the Borg from Star Trek, though, with the whole queen thing.
Also, how do you land a ship THAT BIG on earth and not leave some sort of mark?
Without Will Smith, this movie barely had enough to keep it afloat. I predict a very short life in theaters.
I also saw the new Tarzan movie today. Now THAT was a good movie!
Re: Recently Watched Movies
Finally got around to seeing Captain America: Civil War and Batjerk vs Superjerk: Dawn of Wonder Woman.
Civil war was a decent Marvel movie. I don't think it was the best, but it was good solid movie. I wished there was a better villain, but maybe it is just setting up the story for farther down the road.
Batjerk vs Superjerk is the reason I hate DC movies (their TV is great). I compared it to a basketball game, just a long back and forth until the final minutes that matter. Wonder Woman was the star of the show. Superman's biggest adversary at the moment is DC. They are killing his character. I was rooting for him to die at the end.

Alright, I don't know if I'm going to take your recommendations again... I just watched it and was not impressed! The acting, directing, cinematography, and all that were perfectly adequate, but OH MY GOODNESS WHAT STUPID, STUPID CHARACTERS! It was painful watching such dumb people trying to play murderous "cat and mouse" with each other. I wanted to root for the main character but she was just so absolutely inept and survival of any kind and therefore I wanted to root for the psycho killer to just finish her off but he was so horribly inept at killing her! If you want to see a far better woman-fighting-for-survival-in-a-home-invasion-of-psycho-killer(s) flick, I recommend You're Next. It's a bit of a harder-R rating so don't watch with the kiddos, but it's quite well done!

Except for the "Cloverfield" name to get people to think it was a sequel, there is nothing in common with the actual first movie. These two films stand completely alone.
I thought that "!0 Cloverfield Lane" was pretty good. I really thought that the prepper (played by John Goodman) was lying about everything. The girl just goes from horror to horror. However, at least her character grows and she heads off to help fight the attacks instead of running.

In an interview, Abrams said that they exist in the same universe. So there is some theories that they are tied in together.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
At the end of Cloverfield, there is a scene from the camcorder showing the sky and you see something drop from the sky. These new creatures could very well be that. With Abrams, that is truly all the connection he would need to tie these together.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
I watched the latest James Bond on the plane back from Europe. Meh, it was alright. Nothing special.

Deathgasm on Netflix.
This movie is metal folks. Take Waynes World except the dudes aren't rockin, they're ridiculous black metal posing in the woods and trying to impress girls with their music (lol reaction when this one blonde is given a Cattle Decapitation CD)
...and then turn 180 and make the last half of the movie a zombie demon slasher. That's a decent description of Deathgasm.
Not bad, would watch again.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I've watched the trailer for this a couple times, really wanting to like it because heavy metal + campy horror comedy = perfection for me haha. But I dunno, it just didn't captivate me at all... I might give it a chance some time...

I chose my words carefully when I said "not bad".
Certainly not my favorite of the month or anything.
