Re: Most impactful book
Kingdom of the Cults by the late Dr Walter Martin was indispensable to me. It really help me get a handle on understanding those " guys at my door " and their beliefs. A great primer into the world of unorthodox Christianity and the new age cults.

Re: Most impactful book
Watching "Ragamuffin" (story of Rich Mullins) changed my whole perspective of God's love for me. For 30 years, I viewed God THE FATHER in the same light as my earthly father (distant, cold, requiring actions to please him, and easily displeasing to him). I knew my Father in heaven wasn't like my Dad -but I only knew this intellectually. When I watched Ragamuffin, I was broken and cried like a baby through 75% of the movie... I then read Manning's simple little book and finally came to a heart understanding of God's unconditional love for me. Knowing that the Father's love for me never changes one bit, and is NOT dependent on my actions has changed my whole life !
I thank God for finally getting this through my stubborn brain and into my heart.
I also just finished the following book and was very affected by it in a positive way... I think mainly due to where I'm at in my walk, more than the book itself. But it is an excellent book !

Good list. I never heard of JD Greear, so I looked up this book and this article from Ligonier came up. Really good article, so I may check out the whole book. I know Lewis and Tozer, but I haven't heard of Henry Blackaby though.

I highly recommend it brother. Greear also has some other books that are very good, I also listen to his sermons every week either on the church app or podcast. He's the pastor of the Summit church in Raleigh NC. Probably my favorite pastor/author. D

A little over halfway through reading this now. Its not a BOOK so to speak, but a collection of all Robert E Howard's short story's poems and fragments pertaining to his character Solomon Kane. His writing style has inspired me as a writer. His descriptive writing is just incredible.

I have that one. Got it after reading his Conan's stories. I also have a book of the comic books they did as well. Love, love, LOVE Solomon Kane. I didn't like the movie tho.

I saw that book once and thought about picking it up! Does it cover the scene from an outsider's perspective? Is it pretty subjective or more objective? In other words ... do you think it really shows the big picture? Or is it more from someone who was a part of the scene and shows their slant?

Re: Most impactful book
It's a great book and looks at the topic from an objective point of view. I could be wrong but I don't think the authors were insiders.
