Well they arrived and are too big so I'll have to return them and re-order them a 1/2 size smaller.  Oh well...

FRICK. Got a jury duty card in the mail.

As someone who isn't accustomed to a primitive legal system as the USA has, I'd like to know... what's so bad about jury duty?

The main bad thing about it is it disrupts your work and home life if it drags out. Personally i have never been called. Plus the pay is lousy. Just an inconvenience mainly.

Yep, here in Florida they pay a WHOLE FIFTEEN DOLLARS A DAY! What a deal!

Just once i'd like to see a Medieval film with a power metal soundtrack. It would be a nice change-of-pace from the bombastic classical pieces they always use in those type of movies.

Wasn't "A Knights Tale" close to that? It's been so long. I remember they had "We Will Rock You" in it. I thought the movie was dreadful.

Going to a youth pastor's conference is informational and can make you feel like a failure.  There are a lot of "experts" who tell you how to do ministry and make everything seem so formulaic.  If you aren't doing these things, then you have a place in hell reserved right there with Satan.  If you do these things, then 10,000 kids will show up at your door next week and life will be all butterflies and kittens.

While I know I can improve in some areas, some of their ideas just aren't practical and I have a tendency to beat myself up mentally.  So, I will try to use what I can and leave those guys doing what they are doing.

I like to avoid conferences in general.

I would think 10,000 kids showing up at your door would be another form of hell...

...but seriously, that stuff kind of sounds like my brother's church.  Its not specific to youth ministry, but they kind of push on the service work.  Kind of a "You might have less crowns in heaven if you don't volunteer/join/do whatever this thing we're doing."

By the way, I have a message request on facebook from a keyboard jihadi. No idea how I got that, I rarely comment on the subject of islam, because lots of people already say the things that I'd say about it.
