Random fitness thoughts thread...
Treat this thread like a journal. Mention an accomplishment or two, or something else that stood out from your usual routine.

About that time again, I went for 405lbs on the bench. I needed a little bump on the second rep, but the guy spotting me said he didn't have to help me much at all.
Working my way up!

Re: Random fitness thoughts thread...
Been playing around with EA Sports Active 2 for Wii for about a month now, and I've noticed some pretty dramatic improvements in my endurance and overall strength. I've actually able to do regular pushups now. I'm starting to get enough ab strength to do legit sit-ups (hopefully soon). But the biggest improvement I'd say is endurance and maintaining an aerobic heart-rate for extended activity.
Last summer/fall I tried starting a jogging regimen, but would get winded pretty easily after 1-2 minutes of jogging. So I'd jog 1-2, walk for 1-2, then jog, walk, jog, etc. Last week I jumped on a treadmill an jogged for a straight 25 minutes! Something I never could have imagined doing before I lost my weight and started these regular workouts at home.

That's great!!! I've noticed the same thing with me on EA Sports Active 2. Still don't much care for Mountain Climbers though

Ugh.. Just about any exercise on there with "Mountain" in the name makes me groan.Last time it had me do Mountain climbers, I think my exact words were "I hate you! You are Satan incarnate!"
Re: Random fitness thoughts thread...
Yes, Mountain Climbers can be taxing. But those Alternating Reverse Lung Squats can be killer.

Re: Random fitness thoughts thread...
Never done any lunges or anything related to "mountain" stuff, but I try to do cardio because that's my key to burning calories.
I came to this realization when I could do more ab/stomach stuff than people with 6 packs, and I'm still sporting a keg of sorts.
I maxed out on the bench a few days ago, and normally when I max out, my 3rd set reps of 365lbs are usually 4.
Last time, they were 5 reps, so I think my muscles are getting a little more used to my max weight.

I got this from my brother, but as a gag, I would have a Red Skelton goofy look on my face while pushing the cart sideways down the isle. I mean, like put the cart forward but it was at a 45 degree angle. Its actually fairly noisy and requires a decent amount of stamina for long periods of time.

I'm pretty much going to swap out my 2nd set on the bench from 315lbs to 335lbs. I can handle it. ( ^ - ^)

I'm trying to identify the fluctuations in body weight I'm having. I've given up on losing weight because the more muscle I have, the more I weigh.
It doesn't seem to be tied to calorie intake. I've been doing really well, but its strange because I seem to actually lose weight when I sneak in a sweet....

Maybe it has something to do with the overall macronutrient balance you're getting? Perhaps you're getting a larger amount of lean proteins and the sweets balance that out with some sugar and occasional fats?

Re: Random fitness thoughts thread...
Got 405lbs for two SOLID reps on the bench a couple days ago! No liftoff, and my spotter was just a decoration! HA!
Also, for the first time, did 295lbs on the incline with a bar. I had a spotter and managed to get 8 reps.
I thought about doing a 3rd rep with that 405lbs, but I figured I'd be
sore enough doing too. Sure enough, I'm STILL feeling it today!

So compared to some, this isn't that great but for me it was exciting.
I'm walking for exercise until I can drop a significant amount of weight (I'm about 120 pounds over my goal). My circuit that I walk usually takes 50 to 55 minutes depending on how tired I am (I have to walk at night after my son is in bed, otherwise I don't see him).
Last night I did it in 43 minutes!

Yeah, it's not easy especially if you've been doing it for so long. But it can be done. It just takes time and the resolve to keep at it even when you fail.
