Veronika and I watched A Serious Man last night.  I've seen it a few times before, as I am a huge Coen Brothers fan.  While it has basically ZERO resolution or anything, I think it is quite a good movie with an interesting perspective on denying God and giving in to the easy way out of life's hardships.  (The characters are all Jewish in this film.)

No, it really wasn't. But then, I've never seen a disaster movie that I actually enjoyed both the special effects and the acting/lines/situations.

So, for special effects, San Andreas (and 2012, Volcano, Dante's Peak, Armageddon and Deep Impact) was good, but the situations were out of this world unbelievable.

Yes, it really was.

Even though highly improbable that disasters would occur like this. Definitely a make-you-think type of movie.

I'm not a huge disaster movie person, but I thought San Andreas was TOP NOTCH for this genre!!

It is also scary to think that it's also true that the San Andreas fault is overdue for a big one. Big time. I used to want to move to California until I found that out.

I saw it with a few friends.  None of us particularly hated it.  In fact, we all sort of enjoyed it, but we concluded it was likely because we're all engineers or mathematicians.  Also, none of us are die hard comic fans.  We loved that scene with the N64s(That software for the equations on the computer doesn't exist, we all laughed at that).  Those wouldn't have done what happened, but it was so fun to see a cluster of those put together to increase their computing power.  How they got their powers was pretty creative, though not going with Negative Zone as the name was just dumb.  And yeah, Dr. Doom was weird and the end fight scene was horrible("Oh, we each attacked on our own and couldn't win!  Let's team up and destroy him in one hit!").

I really wish that Fox would let go of the rights to it and let Marvel get it back.  They cancelled the second one, so what's the point of continuing?  They can't reboot.

I have not seen the new Fantastic 4 but plan to when it comes out on video. I wonder if it's as bad the Silver Surfer movie or that Fantastic Four movie from the early 90s.

I thought both those movies were great! If it's anything as good as those, I'll like it!

From what I've been hearing is that it's not as good as those. We'll see.

I think it means like: Where will  you be when this earthquake happens. And 'who' will you be in regards to - will  you try to help people? Or just run away and hide? There were both types of people in this movie. Cowards and heros. Who will you be?

I liked those two. I tend to go for the more light hearted comic book movies. Most people have said that the current one makes those look awesome. Heck, even the Roger Corman version was better than this Fantastic Flop.

I watched The Laws of the Universe.  Now, words don't exist to properly describe this movie.  So, go outside and watch a dog drop a poo.  Let me tell you: that was funner than this movie.  Think I'm lying?  Watch both and compare.  The movie is complete and utter crap, there is nothing good about it.  I have seen some bad movies in my life, Pathfinder, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story, and those were classics by comparison.  This movie says "Let's take aliens and maybe we reincarnate from aliens?  Yeah!  And then, life lessons about making earth better!  Oh, and reptiles are bad, but they can be good. Yeah!  And all religions lead to one path!  Yeah!"  OK, there, I saved you two hours.  That movie was so crappy that, literally, crap looks like lobster by comparison.  I am struggling with a proper analogy for how bad this is.  I don't want anyone to go out and watch it thinking "It can't be that bad!"  No, it's worse.  It's just, I mean, wow.  I mean, wow.

Bingo!  If a friend told me they enjoyed it, I'd seriously have to reconsider our friendship.  If they were inclined to like that, what else could they be hiding?  Are they a Jehovah's witness too?  No, no.  There are some lines that can't be crossed again.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Shaun The Sheep The Movie

Both great movies, I really enjoyed The Man though
it reminded me of a Roger Moore era Bond Movie, with its light hearted approach

My wife and I watched Krampus today!
Its pretty good. I'd say Crimson Peak was better, but still a good movie.

There is ZERO mention of Christ/Christianity, but there's actually very little mention of Santa either (except in relation to Krampus).

The emphasis is based on when Christmas is no longer about "giving" (the movie used the word "sacrifice" several times) and is more about "taking" (of course the movie starts out with a Black Friday Brawl), that's when the anti-Santa (Krampus) comes and... well...

Takes.
People.

The first time we see Krampus in the movie was surprisingly (and delightfully) horrifying. The ending started to piss me off, but then it smoothed out to be just fine. Some of the henchmen are "meh", but it doesn't ruin the movie.

Loved San Andreas!

Hated the new Fantastic 4.  I thought the two previous ones were a lot of fun.  The one in the 90's was pitiful.

We rewatched "The Santa Clause" last night.

Just finished this Science Fiction mini-series based on The Wizard of Oz. Called Tin Man. It was pretty good.
