American Sniper. It was pretty good, classic Clint Eastwood: good acting, dramatic, and overall "well done" though nothing unique, new, original, or anything to want me to see it again. Also, and I need to read more into this, but it sounds like much of the movie was very different than the true story which is unfortunate.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
The last few weeks my wife and I have been on a bit of a Donnie Yen marathon. Recently watched:
Special ID
Dragon
14 Blades
Dragon Tiger Gate
Iron Monkey
Iron Monkey 2
Wing Chun
Of all of these I think the best ones were Dragon, 14 Blades and Wing Chun, but of course none compare to the epic Ip Man, I still think that is one of the the best kung fu movies I have ever seen.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
My wife watched The Hunger Games on Sunday, so last night I had her watch the ORIGINAL one, The Running Man!
Wow! I forgot how cheesy the 80's could be. The beginning was a little weak, but once it got going it was a great watch with classic Arnold one liners. Which had us listening to this one:

Remember the 'Smash TV' arcade game? The Running Man!
Have you seen the 'Far Cry: Blood Dragon' game? All brings me back to the summer of 85.

I watched Fright Night (1985) last night. I haven't seen that one for years! That's a pretty fun flick. It's also got such rad artwork.
The remake was pretty decent too actually.

"Looper". Now THIS was a great movie. Made up for some of the turds I have been watching recently.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
I really liked Looper, as well. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I saw a real stinker known as The Expendables 3. There's two hours I can't get back.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I finally finished One Eyed Jacks.
I watched it on Amazon. Sad VHS to digital transfer with the 4:3 cropped to 16:9 and massive scan lines. I'd like to see it from the original film to digital without the film 16:9 crop to 4:3 and recrop to 16:9.
I enjoyed the the beautiful Monterey, CA scenery and unapologetic English/Spanish dialog. The dialog often goes into Spanish and Spanglish without subtitles. Funny to see Katy Jurado so motherly and upright.
The film's ending was somewhat nihilistic, but still satisfying.

Looper was pretty fantastic; definitely one of the better movies to come out in recent years. I saw the first two Expendables (regrettably) which both sucked IMO. I heard the third one was even worse. It's a shame, because they had such great potential with a cast like that. Unfortunately, the script was SO terrible - and not in a campy/fun way but just a bland, uncreative, and uninspired way. Oh well...
A group of friends and I watched Intolerable Cruelty and The Cabin In The Woods for Valentine's Day haha. Both good flicks.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014). I thought it was a remake. Turns out it was a sequel.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
My family tried to watch Into the Storm but I knew 3 minutes in that it would be too stupid to finish, so I left. Thirty minutes later they gave up as well and watched Transcendence. They convinced me to watch it with them, but it was putting me to sleep so I gave up on that one as well.
