Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now [Secular]?
Here is the review I just left for monopoly company Ticketmaster, since they asked for feedback. Please don't ask how I really feel about them or the nickname I have for them.
QR2=Quiet Riot+Queensryche
Another of many smallish concert venues in the Seattle area held at a casino recently.
Must walk through the hundreds of losers playing slots and table games to get to the Orca Ballroom.
Plenty of choices for a meal and drink inside the casino that can be brought inside the ballroom. BONUS, they provided free chips and salsa at the back of the ballroom.
Interesting to see people dressed for Halloween as this was Halloween night.
My third time seeing QR aka Quiet Riot open for another band. Their bassists Rudy Sarzo is from the early days when I first saw them break into the big time at the 1983 US Festival. Then he went on to even bigger bands like Ozzy before returning to QR. The singer did a good job but was no Kevin DuBrow RIP. They did get the crowd going with their pre-1990 songs. The crowd was pumped for the much louder QR aka Queensryche.
Apparently and thankfully, this was the Origins tour for Queensryche. They played in their entirety, the first self-titled demo and EP from 1983 followed by their first full length studio album The Warning from 1984. Sounded so sweet! Only Geoff could have made it sound better. The very qualified lead vocalist Todd La Torre, did give a small apology for fans wanting to hear their biggest two hits. Strangely enough, the encore song EMPIRE was from 1990. Too bad it was not either crowd favorite Silent Lucidity or Jet City Woman.

People that still follow Queensryche now probably don't care if they hear the two hits from Empire. I would much rather hear the title track than the two commercial tracks. I would be a very satisfied fan closing out with Empire rather than snoring through Silent Lucidity.oldschooldoom wrote:The very qualified lead vocalist Todd La Torre, did give a small apology for fans wanting to hear their biggest two hits. Symphony X - Twilight in Olympus: another great album from these guys.
Angra - Acoustic - Live at Opera de Arame: 1 hour and 24 minutes that flies by. This really is excellent.
