Re: Soul Factor - FFO Sepultura or old school thrash
I'd never heard the "Timeline" album before, I am listening to it now on You Tube and liking it a lot. It is heavier on the death metal than their later release, "Resurgence Of Chaos."
I did enjoy "Resurgence Of Chaos" which was remastered and re-released by VOG Records in 2020 (originally released in 2012). "Ruins of the Soul" is from that one.
Pure old-school thrash with death metal elements from Brazil, with hoarse vocals and riff-heavy, mostly mid-paced songs that occasionally will ramp up to some cool high speeds. There is a definite Sepultura influence, and one can also hear elements of early Mortification, Crimson Thorn, Antidemon, and Obituary.
Another reason I liked this disc was because the songs are well sequenced and flow well into each other.
I do wish the bass were heavier in the mix, it is not as pronounced as i would like. Lyrics are in English and are mostly from a Christian worldview, talking about spiritual issues, drug abuse, anti-occult, and social issues.
I've since heard their latest song from their to-be-recorded 3rd album,. but did not care for it as much as their sound had changed somewhat.

Constantine is right, vocals are very Obituary like on the first time while the second song is more Morty like. Me likee.

I love the single Sacred Gate, a little more thrashy.

I think they sound more like Bolt Thrower than Sepultura.
But either way, I like it!

Vision Of God Records licensed and remnastered the "Resurgence of Chaos" CD.TZ75 wrote:Where do you buy their CDs?
"Timeline" is going for big bucks on Ebay ($60). It is still out of print.
Maybe VOG will license that at some point, but right now they are working on album #3 with the band.

Resurgence of Chaos smokes! Some of my favorite thrash I’ve heard in a while.
