Had a great Lord’s Day yesterday. A lady joined the church I pastor and then I got to attend the ordination service for a candidate I helped examine.

I like these random, spiritually-encouraging thoughts.

I’m going back to work part time at my old security job. Gonna continue to pastor and do some proofreading work, but we need the extra monies. 

Gonna have to get used to walking up 30–50 flights of stairs a day again.

My last job was "security," though the name was something of a misnomer. I could have definitely gotten some studying done on the clock, that's for sure. And rarely any stairs.

Heh, it was at a warehouse, and there were a couple different jobs, but especially on Sat/Sun I "worked" 2nd shifts. . . there was no weekend 2nd shifts. I sat in the security office of a usually completely empty warehouse, sometimes there would be 10-20 minutes of actual work to do, otherwise I was literally there to make sure the police didn't come if an alarm went off. I always thought it was hilarious.

I work at a college/seminary. It’s got a lot of properties, so rounds take at least a couple hours. Plus we get a lot of different calls for things. But it’s a fun job. Just a lot of walking!

You guess correctly. Did security there for 9 years, left, and am now returning.

So after this post I also got a salary offer that was slightly better than I expected, so I wasn't exactly going to play hardball   Just have to decide on the details of how to get paid.

Anyway, they invited me to come visit them personally in the Netherlands next, which I gladly accepted. It's just that I'll be gone from home for a few days and I really don't like not having my wife and daughters around. I know that my wife will manage just fine and there's even the added bonus of not having as much to do when I'm not there, but part of me feels like getting torn apart just by the thought. I have decided to not be such a baby though. I'll be staying with my eldest brother, so that should be fun (and probably tiring, the man's got E N E R G Y ).

The biggest challenge will be finding a place to live, especially on short notice. Luckily, even with the insane rent prices in the Netherlands, our situation probably won't get worse in the end. Plus, I've been named after an uncle who likes me a lot (the feeling's mutual by the way) and he lives quite near where I'll be working. He has eight kids and one of his sons in law works in real estate in exactly that region, so he asked him to see what he could do.

I might be behind on the context to this post. I'm wondering what type of job this is that you've been hoping to get!

Kerrick and Pethead, how are your wive's pregnancies going? We are all hoping and praying for health and no complications.

I'm gonna be a junior lawyer at a legal insurance. Not a lawyer as in barrister (or whatever it's called in the US), this is at a lower level. I'll still be allowed to represent people in court eventually, as long as the claim is low enough.

Anyway, it's almost official; I made the choice about the salary variant and now it's a matter of waiting for the contracts to get ready to sign. Starting date will be August 1, which should give me enough time to find a place that is close enough to work, family and a solid church. And perhaps in a place where we'll be far enough from solid christian schools so that we can homeschool our kids, but in the Netherlands there is no legal difference between public schools and religious schools so it wouldn't be the worst.

Thanks for asking!  Momma and baby are doing great.  She's been blessed with easy pregnancies and so far, this one continues the trend.  Baby is due mid-July which is right around the corner!

Essentially to learn enough of the ecumenical creeds to not be heretics.
