Obscure thrash metal bands
Our thread about obscure hair/glam was pretty fun, let's branch out to other genres, notably thrash. Of course, we all know about the big 4 of Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer, as well as the second tier with stuff like Exodus, Testament, Overkill, and Deliverance (among others), as well as some of the thrash metal revival acts like Toxic Holocaust, Warbringer, Havok, etc. But then you have the bands that fell through the cracks, like Gothic Slam:

A band whose name held them back I think.

Indestructible Noise Command or INC. is really solid. Tons of groove and intense riffage.

For modern bands I suggest Dust Bolt, and Woslom. Those guys tear it up. They are a bit more unknown compared to Havok and Warbringer. Hatchet is really sick too.

I like some of Dust Bolt but find them inconsistent.

The new album is really good IMO. The older albums are a little meh. The latest one slows it down a little and has more groove in there.

I'm out of the loop, I'll check it out.

These two are my favorites off of the new album that came out in...February, I think? Or March.

Re: Obscure thrash metal bands
I know of so many obscure thrash bands that we could be here for months on end and still not exhaust them all.
I am still new here and am prohibited from posting links for 7 days, so I'll circle back and post some when I can.

I don't think Annihilator is obscure.

Re: Obscure thrash metal bands
You'd be surprised. Most of the newer breed of metal heads don't have a clue about them (or him since it's basically a one-man show). I used to post on a major message board that had a thread devoted to metal and asked them to rank their favorite Annihilator albums... they knew nothing about them/him, but they knew all about Testament, the big 4, and neo-thrash. I'm like 'yeah, Jeff Waters is probably the overall best thrash guitarist of all time. You might want to check out Alice...'Black Rider wrote:I don't think Annihilator is obscure.

Lich King is one of my top favorites. Born of the Bomb is a frequent player.Superjuice wrote:Early Annihilator and as far as the new wave of thrash: the funny era of Lich King.
