Re: Recently Watched Movies
I don't get much time for movies these days but sometimes in the evenings I can watch 15 or 20 minutes here or there. I started watching the Netflix Canadian movie Ravenous (not to be confused with the Guy Pearce classic already mentioned in this thread) and so far it's pretty decent. I'm about halfway through and I'm looking forward to continuing it. There's not much of a plot: just people trying to survive after a zombie apocalypse in rural Canada, but I dig it. There are some pretty tense scenes and the acting is overall quite good.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Did not know about this, I will have to check it out. There is also another spook movie on Netflix (forgot the name) about a cornfield. I have it on my watch list but haven't gotten around to it yet.Kerrick wrote:I don't get much time for movies these days but sometimes in the evenings I can watch 15 or 20 minutes here or there. Re: Recently Watched Movies
^I saw a trailer for that one and thought it looks pretty decent though it's received mostly mediocre reviews. If you watch it, let me know what you think!
I'd recommend Ravenous - at least the first half haha. Also, if you've never seen the *other* Ravenous, I highly recommend! If's a unique movie. The trailers give away way too much though so I suggest skipping those and going straight for the movie. Robert Carlyle is especially good in it. Without giving too much away... it's about a small group of soldiers in a remote outpost during the Mexican/American war who go to rescue someone from a Donner Party type situation... and then things take a sinister turn...

You almost exactly described the first part of the original Predator movie right there.

I watched El Camino today, and I really liked it. I always felt a little bad for Jesse at the end of Breaking Bad, but avoiding spoilers, it was good to get some closure, at least sort of...

Re: Recently Watched Movies
It's called "In The Tall Grass". I got busy and couldn't finish I think there are 12 minutes left. So far it's pretty lame. Not much of a plot, just people walking around trying to find each other in some tall grass with some time lapses. And with 12 min to go I can't say I'm hopeful the plot works out in the last 10 minutes.Kerrick wrote:^I saw a trailer for that one and thought it looks pretty decent though it's received mostly mediocre reviews. Re: Recently Watched Movies
^Right on. I'll skip it then.
I finished Ravenous. The ending was a bit disappointing/cliche but it's still a good movie in my books. A better ending would've gone a long ways, though I'd still recommend it for fans of the zombie and indie/hipster genres.

Gemini Man
Wow, my kinda movie! I love the 007 meets Terminator feel. So actionated! Very clever original story line and wity writing.
Usually I can tell ahead of time when I'm going to enjoy a movie, I just look at the bashing from the movie critics

I caught a free movie while flying coast to coast yesterday. GLASS was a disappointing sequel to UNBREAKABLE which I loved.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I liked In The Tall Grass myself. I'd think if you like other Steven King movie adaptations, you'd like it. There's more than just people lost in tall grass and time displacement though. (like, whatever is going on with that very strange "rock" and those "grass creatures")
I liked the movie Eli on Netflix. There's some parts in there that didn't feel realistic to me (cheesy), but it hardly ruins the movie. Lots of twists in this one. Like you think one thing thing is going on the first half of the movie, then an hour in you think something else, then the last 30 minutes is like "What the..." - I didn't think the movie was going here.

The trailer didn't really grab me, though after reading this... I am intrigued! I may have to check it out.
I watched a Spanish movie called The Invisible Guest. It's a suspense/mystery/courtroom-drama type flick that's pretty well done. Basically a woman is murdered in her hotel room and her lover is implicated for the murder. The movie is primarily flashbacks of the events leading up to the murder as he and his lawyer are trying to figure out how to prove his innocence. The acting was very well done and I thought it had a good ending.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I watched Regression the other night together with my wife. Usually she's the one who gets the story right in the early stages of a movie, but this time it was me who knew pretty much exactly how this movie would go, and how it would end. The movie itself was pretty bland, if you ask me. But at least it was entertaining enough to keep me watching until the end.

I started Eli last night. I'll let you know what I think of it when I finish it. With my busy work schedule, housework, and family stuff... I have to watch movies in short bits over multiple evenings while my wife puts the kiddo to sleep. I'm not very far in, but so far it seems pretty decent!

Re: Recently Watched Movies
I'll have to check out Eli at some point too I guess. Right now trying to run thru Mindhunter. Also have a few episodes of the new Netflix "prank" show downloaded and someone recommended Good Cop, Bad Cop. So much to watch, so little time.

I watched Miss Congeniality with my wife. We both liked that movie before we even dated (which started in 2011), but somehow we never watched it together.
We still enjoyed it after all these years

That's one of the movies my wife and I never get tired of Have you watched the sequel? Not as good, if you ask me, but still definitely worth a watch if you like the first one.Andreas89 wrote:I watched Miss Congeniality with my wife.
