Firestream Music Vault

There are a ton of spam messages there someone needs to go in and delete those profiles.

I'm a mod and can edit/delete threads and posts, but unfortunately we'd need an admin to ban users...  Dale was one of the few [active] admins and when he passed away, it began to get very cluttered.  I'll clean it up some but it's only a bandaid fix.

EDIT: I cleared out probably 60 threads and there are still many to go...

Wow, didn't realize there were that many there. I knew Dale was a mod but didn't know if anyone else was. If you give me access I can keep an eye on it as well.

Firestream is a great music source. The only thing is they don't always respond to threads to add certain albums. I've asked them to add albums like CPR (Classic Petra Revived) Back to the Rock 2, Soldier Babylon and Beyond vinyl and CD and there is no response. I understand you can't add every version of an album though.

I get phishing emails all the time from the Firestream domain

Unfortunately, I don't have the authority/ability to give you access.  I *think* the only admins there are/were Sean (Destroycraft is his username here on CMR) and Dale.  I'll ask Sean about adding a few more folks...

What does the Firestream vault allow you to do that you can't do at Metal-Archives or rate your music?  Just wondering.

The fact that Firestream is purely Christian music I would assume would be the big draw.

Logged in today and a ton more spam messages. It's like they create accounts and post every day. Seems to me some security could be set up to filter bogus accounts. And most of the mods over there are MIA. Some I haven't seen in a couple of years many of them were regular posters here.

I sent Sean a message yesterday so we'll see what he says...  It'd be really nice to do some preventative maintenance there instead of just cleaning up what's already been done.

Did someone ever deactivate the admin accounts that aren't being used anymore?

If not, they should.

I don't know, though I doubt it.

That might explain some of the spam issues, and also the phishing emails that keep getting sent out.

That's a relatively easy thing to filter on at Metal-Archives though:  Lyrical themes = Christianity -anti

As someone who collects and listens to almost nothing but Christian rock and metal, I personally would feel much better being on a site catering to Christian music only where I don't have to worry about filtering out anything, and where the other users are like minded. 

That's fine if you want to go to a site like Metal-Archives and filter, I prefer not to.

Again, that's my POV....

The Metal Archives is strictly metal, whereas Firestream includes rock as well as other related genres (industrial, etc.).  The last Christian metal thread I saw on MA got locked pretty quickly; there's a lot of animosity towards Christians there and it's only inevitable that a nice friendly conversation about Horde will quickly go south.

Also, I think there are a lot of folks like B4L who don't care nor want to bother with filtering out all the secular stuff to find the Christian stuff.  And with a site like FS, you don't have to.  Sure, there's a lot of redundant information on FS, but I don't think most of the folks on FS are there solely for the info.

Well, I was talking about the site's info and not hanging out on the forums.  I see no reason to duplicate the same info in multiple places.

Do people even hang out on the FS forums at all anymore?  It doesn't look that way.

It's not just duplicating....I think the very first line in Kerrick's response pretty much answered that.

Well, the Christian metal part is a duplication, which is what I am talking about.  I personally don't care about Christian rock or industrial, if that's even still a thing.

Again, that's YOU...Just because YOU don't care about the other Christian genres doesn't mean others don't. 

I love the fact that a lot of different styles of Christian music are on there...as do a lot of other people, that's why so many were clamoring for it to come back after they got hacked years ago.

Excellent site, but it is completely different. AW is a site dedicated to news and album reviews.

My bad, there's two people using the same user-name on different Christian metal forums and I thought they were the same.  I have no idea who "solid" is on FireStream... but whoever he is, I think he's the only admin there.

Among all the video game spam
