Re: Recently Experienced Shows
Wow, you would think Nashville would have a ton of shows. It's a big city right? I guess it's Country music capital too though. Where do all the rock shows go? Can you drive to see anything?
Salt Lake City where I am has a TON of shows!!! I guess cause we're a big city and so close to California. Not sure to be honest.

Nashville is a good sized city but not as large as you might think. It is nowhere the size of say Atlanta or Chicago.
Where do rock shows go? Well, if you are a secular artist, Nashville. If you are a Christian band, typically Knoxville or Memphis. I can drive to those, but I am old enough now that driving 3 to 4 hours to see a show just doesn't excite me. When I was younger, I drove to Knoxville to see Disciple, Red, and a couple of other bands that are escaping my memory at the time. I drove there another time to see Eden's Way and Eowyn together. I just am not going to do that anymore. At soon to be 46, driving more than an hour just seems to be the equivalent of torture. When my wife and I go somewhere, she typically does all the driving as I have lost the enjoyment of driving. It is a necessary evil to get me where I want to go. If someone else is driving, I will enjoy the trip a lot more. LOL

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
Jack (Four Star Revival singer) and I went to see Saxon/Armored Saint last month. Absolutely phenomenal show by both bands! Saxon's Power and the Glory album is still one of my all time favorites! I saw Saxon back in the day as well and they sound just as good now as they did back then! They played most of their popular songs from the span of their career, though there were a few left out that I wish they would have played. They also played the title track off their new album "Battering Ram" which was really good.
Armored Saint played a nice mix of popular songs from their career as well, along with a few from their latest album and even opened with the title track "Win Hands Down" (which is a killer album by the way).
This was a cool reunion for Jack, for those that know Jack's history. For those that don't, Jack used to play in a band called Life After Death with Gonzo and Phil from Armored Saint. It was the band they formed after John Bush left to join Anthrax. They put out one album (though Phil had left the band by that point) that was only released in Europe. It is now available on CD Baby though. It's a great album with some awesome songs and lots of guitar harmonies a la Thin Lizzy. Here's the link if you want to check it out, and a picture of me, Jack and Gonzo!

AC/DC Sydney 4th November 2015
What an awesome show, they may be a few steps slower but the boys can still deliver even in the pouring rain, I started off down the front but moved to a seat after about 7 songs
Some pics

I saw the bottom of the page first, saw cannons, and assumed somebody had seen AC/DC.

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
There's no live metal where I live. The last metal concert I went to was 2003 and even then it was a 3 hour drive to it.
...but I live in the middle of nowhere.
The only local metal is what I make in my studio. I would like to see a concert of a band I listen to sometime before I die.

I live in a 5 bedroom house in a small village (not a town, a village) of 3,500 people. Central Illinois. Even though I'm a 15 minute drive from the state capital, even that is only 100,000 people. No major death metal gig has came there.
There's a "metal bar" there that plays gigs from local try-hards, but that's it.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of them because of my triggers pet peeve, I'd still like to see them live on stage.

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
So Im good friends with the promoter who brought Disciple to Walla Walla last week.
So I was at the venue for about 12 hours as long as the band.
I helped them set up sound equipment I helped bring them lunch.
I got to request to Kevin Young that they play Back Again and they did!!!
I then got to work the door at opening rush and then worked Disciple's merch table all night. So that was a successful show.
If you wanna see some of the videos I took at sound check, check out my instagram.

Fleshgod Apocalypse, Carach Angren and Abigail Williams are playing in my state in the middle of February, a 3 hour drive away. Looks like I'll go to a concert next year.
