Re: Recently Experienced Shows
The three times I've seen Thousand Foot Krutch, it was a bad mix. Usually the vocals were drowned out - maybe it's the band...alldatndensum wrote:Hardcore Christian wrote:alldatndensum wrote:A lot of folks, even younger ones, began leaving because it was too loud.
I went to Winterjam recently with my church kids. Except for Crowder and Britt Nichole, the rest of the artists had the same problems--especially Thousand Foot Krutch. The mix on them was so poor that, if I had not known their music, I literally couldn't tell one song from another.
Well, hopefully I'll catch them with a competent sound man some day.

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
So tonight I went to see Quiet Riot (for the 2nd time) and was blown away at how cool these guys are. Been into Glam Metal since day one, and these boys put on an amazing show. The new singer, James Durbin, may seem out of place being born in 1989, but he is excellent and did the band justice.
They played a great 17 song set (I posted it on www.setlist.fm if you want to view it).
At one point, lead guitarist Alex Grossi broke a guitar string and the rest of the band covered "Dazed and Confussed" while he fixed it. Just so much energy exhibited by these guys tonight.
And I stuck around afterwards and was rewarded by getting to meet the drumming legend, Frankie Banali. Such a cool guy. It capped off a really neat evening.

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
For a very very very long time I was in a decent concert last thursday: Anathema (in Hellsinki). Almost 2,5 hrs of enjoyment. I like this band very much. I discovered it just a few months ago and the concert came in perfect time. I know the band´s early history was quite dark perhaps, but what I`ve understood, their music and lyrics have chanced a lot from past days. I recomment this one to all progressive rock fans.

Last week I went and saw Demon Hunter and Into The Flood, in Seattle, one of the best shows I have been to in a long time!

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
Last night I went to see Phinehas, Earth Groans, and Ghost Heart with Hardcore Christian and friends + family. It was a ton of fun. While I'm not the biggest metalcore fan, I must say, they make for great shows: tons of energy and good moshing. The show was quite small - maybe 60 people total, but everyone present was really into it and the bands played their hearts out. We all had a fantastic time!

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
hey kerrick!
going to see Phinehas tonight with my boy...
I'm not the biggest fan either but they're one of the bands I can get into pretty good. their music seems to have something more than just a straight up metalcore vibe to it...for one thing (am I remembering right? old age you know) actual SOLOS! and I love their acoustic record...
that said, it's mostly about the boy, as live shows are often not the greatest for me...

TDWP stole the show a couple weeks ago, but all three bands were stellar, FFAK played a ton of their new stuff so that was epic
Tonight I am going to see Mychildren Mybride perform Unbreakable in its entirety with Earth Groans (once again)
Gonna be epic
One of these days I will post photos from all three shows

Re: Recently Experienced Shows
Time to resurrect a very old thread!
I went to the first show in a looooooong time this Saturday and got to see Chase The Sun which was great. (Myles their drummer is a member here on CMR too!) They played a pretty even mix of some of my favorites from their debut album and some new songs - at least a couple of which had never been played live before. The new songs are totally killer and include some of their heaviest stuff yet. CTS sounds great live: more raw and intense than their studio material yet never compromising on the technical and intricate playing. I highly recommend seeing them if you can, and buying their CD regardless!

Resurrecting this thread again... which is funny because it involves Chase The Sun haha.
This Saturday I'm going to be seeing Saint, and Chase The Sun is opening for them! Even though I never did get into Saint (though who knows, maybe this show will change that!), I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to hearing some new material from Chase The Sun too. Should be great!
