Re: Why Do Most People On Here Hate All "Core" Genres?
When I joined this forum, I had two big styles I wasn’t a fan of: core and black metal. But I’ve grown to appreciate black metal of late, because I try to be open-minded with music. On the other hand, I’ve heard a ton of core over the years, but most of it still leaves me cold and/or nauseous.

If this is considered core then I think this is better than most in that genre.
Reminds me a bit of Machine Head at times though.

I know we’ve had discussions on whether or not Living Sacrifice counts as core. I’ve always thought of their era starting with Reborn to be core, but I’ll admit it’s a bit different—and better—than most modern core, and I know some here dispute the label. Thoughts?

Early Demon Hunter was nucore. Disciple has had several genres over the years but they've never been core.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:P.O.D and early Demon Hunter are Nu Metal. To me Reborn and The Hammering Process just sound like core with most of the flaws removed. They can occasionally still get monotonous, but for the most part the riffs have decent variety while still having a core-like soundPethead wrote:I know we’ve had discussions on whether or not Living Sacrifice counts as core. Their new stuff isn't metal, it's hard rock. My Daddy Can Whip Your Daddy- Scars Remain is. I could actually see Back Again and Scars Remain being called core, though Back Again would be nucore. MDCWYD, TMSaL, and By God are heavy nu metal, though some people like Black Rider consider them groove (which I can understand). Lake of Fire is hair metal. Not sure what genre What Was I Thinking is.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:They're not metal imoAmmocas wrote:Maybe Disciple is…Post Nu MetalChristian Thrash Rules wrote:P.O.D and early Demon Hunter are Nu Metal. I thought it was whatever late 90s Machine Head was.

I don't really see much core in Demon Hunter's early stuff, especially the first album. It's very Slipknoty imo.StevenCressler wrote:Early Demon Hunter was nucore.

I believe that one of the Mindrage members went on to Evanescence...

Because core is bad and the people who make it are bad.
