I don't care much for this album.
I did see them on this tour and I believe the band "Waysted' opened up for them.

Yeah, it wasn't my favorite Maiden album either, but it did spawn a few really good songs.

It had a few great songs
One of my favorite album covers
I can't believe this is after the peak of Maiden yet it was 1986!
The peak of bands all over the Sunset Strip yet Maiden was just starting the down hill slide into albums like The X Factor and No Hope For The Dying

Wha? This is my all time favorite album from them.

That album has some good songs. Wasted Years is a killer tune.

Yeah it's up there for me too. I couldn't pick one favorite, but if I were to try, this album would DEFINITELY be included. Sea Of Madness, Deja Vu, Stranger In A Strange Land, Wasted Years... all such great songs and some of my absolute favorites of theirs!

I've never understood why people hate on this album - everything from piece of mind to seventh son is pure solid gold

Same here. Brave New World is up there as well though. I sort of go back and forth between those two.deathisgain wrote:Wha? This is my all time favorite album from them.

Great album! I slightly prefer the ones on either side of it (Powerslave and Seventh Son), but Maiden could no wrong in this period. Wasted Years is an all time classic.

I certainly agree with that. But Somewhere in Time and Brave New World just have a special resonance with me. Powerslave is nip and tuck with Somewhere in Time and Brave New World for me. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is absolutely amazing, but I didn't listen to it until I was older, whereas I grew up with Somewhere in Time and Brave New World came out my senior year of high school. I grew up with Powerslave as well though and it is a very special album to me and also in my mind, essentially a perfect album. I just love the sound of Somewhere in Tiime and 'Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner' might be my all-time favorite workout song (and maybe even my favorite song, period).Pethead wrote:Great album! That all makes sense. My other favorite along with Powerslave and SSoaSS is actually A Matter of Life and Death.SwordOfAcroyear wrote:I certainly agree with that. One thing I absolutely loved about A Matter of Life and Death was the promotion they did for The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg, including fake websites about the mystery of Benjamin Breeg and what happened to him, etc. I thought that was just awesome.Pethead wrote:That all makes sense. SiT is my favorite album by them and AMOLAD is vying for second. For the Greater Good of God is an amazing tune.

Wow looking back I was totally wrong
This was actually the first Maiden album I really got into and is my personal favorite alongside Seventh Son, I think a lot of fans have changed their mind about it as time (mind the pun) has gone on
Some of my all-time favorite Maiden songs, are the title track, Wasted Years, Sea Of Madness, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, and Deja Vu

Loved the album, though I was concerned about the direction the band was taking. Saw them with Yngwie on this tour. From where we sat, we could see Steve Harris watching Yngwie for a while. Maiden was awesome. The sound setup for Yngwie seemed to be crank him up and turn the vocalist and band down, which was disappointing.

One of my favorite Maiden albums! Bruce’s voice was perfect and Steve’s bass was clear and punchy.

Cranked up Wasted Years today. That song always fires me up when I'm down.

LOVE The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner! I love ALL those songs, but that one is just special to me. I mean, the whole album is, but that one just gets me every time, especially when I'm working out.Hardcore Christian wrote:Wow looking back I was totally wrong

The most perfectly produced album I've ever heard. I have not heard better production before or since. Seventh Son's production is a disappointment in comparison w/ that poor choice in dry guitar tone.

A great classic album!
It contains one of their most instantly recognizable songs. The iconic intro to Wasted Years is epic!

Still my top Maiden album, and I agree the production is top notch, impossible to beat this album and Seventh Son
