Not my favorite—I prefer the album before and after—but it’s a great album.

Probably inspired by the movie just like half of their other songs are inspired by a movie.MagnusPrime wrote:Is this the one with Christopher Reeve?

My first Iron Maiden album and my favorite. Then I worked my way backwards to their first few albums. Killers is my next fav, then Piece of Mind.

I had actually kind of given up on the band by the time this one came out. For some reason only about half of Powerslave clicked with me (despite the fact that it was one of the best concerts I ever attended). Unlike Piece of Mind and Number which were amazing albums with only one or two tracks that were less than stellar.
Kerrick actually convinced me to give this album a try and I bought it 3 or 4 years ago. Glad he did, it's a really solid album.

I didn't care much for this album when it came out, but that was based on the songs that were being pushed, like "Heaven Can Wait." In hindsight the album is much better than I perceived it back then.
"Wasted Years" is a favorite Maiden song for sure. "Caught Somewhere In Time," "Sea Of Madness," and a few others are strong tracks as well.
But I'd have to revisit the whole album to evaluate it fairly. I remember finding some of the choruses annoying, like on "Heaven Can Wait." Overall I suppose Maiden were aiming for a good marriage of the commercial and the heavy, and I do think they achieved that.
