Recent movie purchases
Thought I'd start a new thread where we can showcase movies we've recently purchased. I'll begin...
I got all this for only $16.00 over the weekend at various thrift stores and garage sales!
I didn't even know Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton had made "Hatfields & McCoys" (it's a mini-series)
-Wrath of the Titans 3D (Blu-ray)
-The Raid: Redemption (Blu-ray)
-Star Trek: Into Darkness (Blu-ray)
-Dark City (Director's Cut) (Blu-ray)
-Hatfields & McCoys (Blu-ray)
-Precious (Blu-ray)
-Beasts of the Southern Wild (Blu-ray)
-Ocean's Eleven (DVD)

I think it was on the History Channel. I wanted to watch it when it was on, but never got around to it.

Haven't bought many movies lately, though the most recent one was The Guard. That is a very excellent movie though there's a lot of bad language in it.

I'll look into it.
If you noticed, I now have Dark City on Blu-ray. Very excited.

Re: Recent movie purchases
I saw that! Very nice.
Adam, if The Guard looks good to you, I highly recommend Calvary. It's from the same director as The Guard and features the same main actor (Brendon Glesson - who is fantastic in everything he does IMO). It's a very well done movie about a priest who has been threatened to be killed for no apparent reason. The movie follows him in the week leading up to the point of his alleged impending death. It's a study on one's faith, the perceived waning relevancy of the Church in modern times, and some other big themes like that.

Good to know. I got it for a dollar, so it's still a bargain. Plus, I own it if Netflix ever takes it offline, which is always a risk in our cloud based world.

Last movie I bought was Mulan. Never mind the feminist appropriation, it's a movie I loved as a kid and wanna watch with my wife now.

Perinbaba (aka The Snow Fairy)
This is a fantastic Slovak fairytale that my wife grew up watching as a kid. She showed it to me while we were dating and I absolutely loved it. While we were recently in Slovakia, I found an all-region blu-ray of it. I couldn't find a decent trailer but here's the opening few minutes to give you an idea. I highly recommend it!
