I'll chime in. And this from a guy who normally dislikes the average Christian movie, it's not too bad. It's more of a movie around Lee's conversion process, rather than a documentary of his interviews, so you see the tensions in his life. I'd say watch it, it's not a must watch, but it doesn't make me cringe.
Kerrick, I apologize for not reading the comments after I said I watched The Case For Christ. I am terrible about just dropping in what I said I was watching and then not checking to see if someone wished to discuss the film or show.
Even though I appreciate a lot more Christian films than Driven, his super short review is quite on tap. While some of the facts Lee dug up in his book are contained in the script, the movie is as much about the tensions at home between Mr. and Mrs. Strobel as she turned to Jesus and he continued to fight against Him. Also, there is tension at the paper where Lee worked as well. It is about his conversion and the turmoil his family went through while he sought to destroy his wife's newfound beliefs.
So, while maybe not a "must-see" film, it was definitely worth watching especially since it was free on Netflix.
Re: Recently Watched Movies
I agree. if they could loop it around now to the the first movies time travel aspect that would be coolalldatndensum wrote:Hardcore Christian wrote:Where did you get your info?!alldatndensum wrote:Except it isn't just a trilogy. These are the first three in a FIVE movie ark. The next two will finally remake the best elements of the original Planet Of The Apes series. What we have now are prequels to that story. We are set for the next one to have the return of the Mars mission shown briefly in the first movie in this series to return to find the earth populated by apes.
I havent heard anything about that?
Unless your just pulling my leg
I heard they could make more but because War didnt have huge box office returns it might not happen
Dont forget Disney now owns the franchise as well
I read an article a few months back and that was what the studio was planning. Of course, Disney can't take full control yet as the buyout of Fox will take up to 18 months for the Federal Trade Commission to review and approve. They have the rights, but the FTC will determine if and when Disney really starts flexing those rights. Same with the Marvel characters they again own the rights to.
Personally, I hope they do make the two more to do this as a prequel and then retell the best moments of the original films. Some of them just had poor stories. The first two or three were pretty cool for their time.
I think bringing in the later movies would be difficult, mainly because Rise and Dawn were basically Conquest and Battle
Escape would be cool but might be confusing considering Caesars already established creation and upbringing

War For The Planet Of The Apes - Bad Ape was a fun character. Beyond that, I found it long and boring.

Oh man, this Saturday we stopped at Best Buy and they had Transformers The Movie (1986) Blu-Ray format for sale! This was my all-time favorite movie throughout my entire childhood. So much nostalgia for me. I just gotta figure out whether I can coax Veronika into watching cartoon robots destroy each other for an hour and a half...

Maverick (1994)
The Missouri Breaks
Two very different style of Westerns, both really great!
Maverick is one of my new favorites, the comedy was hilarious, and to see James Garner, Mel Gibson, and Jodie Foster having such a good time on screen together is very unique for a movie
The Missouri Breaks is a very moody, dark style of Western, with no defined hero, and characters where the lines are easily blurred between good and evil, had awesome performances from Jack Nicholson, and Kathleen Lloyd
Brando was a nutcase in this movie like usual

It's a great movie! I haven't seen the new one yet but the whole family wants to see it. I also suggest Zathura. It is the same style of movie made by the same people.

Re: Recently Watched Movies
Just saw the new poster for Mission Impossible: Fallout starring Tom Cruise........
And it reminded me of a comedian's joke I saw online recently. he said something to the effect of
"I'm sick and tired of watching all these Mission: Impossible movies only to get to the end of the movie to find out the mission was........possible."
LOL - I'll probably watch it anyways.

Hopefully the SOLO: A Star Wars Story trailer comes out soon too. It's like 4 months away, if that.
