Malachia (Band) [Obscure 80s Metal]
So I can barely find anything on this band other than, a Metal Wiki page and a Angelic Warlord review
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Malachia/106109
http://www.angelicwarlord.com/reviews/m/malachia87.html
But, my dad specifically remembers them from Metal Mardi Gras
Does anyone here own this? Or have any thoughts on the band/opinion on their music.
Apparently they released a EP and then a full length which is what is reviewed on Angelic Warlord.

They changed their name to Vision just before breaking up. They have one song "Runaway" on the California Metal II compilation. Their EP "Under the blade" was released on vinyl only. Red Sunrise was released on vinyl & cassette.
They were an okay band, even saw them live at His Festival II back in 1988.

There was a bootleg version released a few years back and offered by Retrospect Records. Good luck finding that one, too. Even the boots are rare!

If you are interested in the singer Ken Pike, he has a recent album out with a different band (Absolon). They have one album out and the music is a bit more progressive than the Malachia albums.
This page gives a very brief overview of the band.

I bought their "Red Sunrise" on cassette way back in the day.
This is another very underrated Christian Glam Metal band like Stryken. Very good band - but they never got the appreciation or attention they deserved. They morphed into Vision and only released the stuff on California Metal II (which was fantastic, but more into an AOR direction, which would explain the name change). Vision was much different from Malachia. I only wish Vision had stayed together and released some albums. They were fantastic!!!

I have all of their releases. "Runaway", from the California Metal II comp is a cut above in quality - really good tune.

Agreed! It's one of the best songs on that album! And it's an overall very good album!

I enjoy Absolon even though it is not a Christian project.Staybrite wrote:If you are interested in the singer Ken Pike, he has a recent album out with a different band (Absolon). They have one album out and the music is a bit more progressive than the Malachia albums.

Malachia Anniversary
For those who might be interested in Malachia/Vision, it looks like 2018 will provide a remastered CD version of Red Sunrise and some never before released demo songs.
We were a part of a very special time in the history of Christian Rock/Metal. While our footprint is small compared to some, we had a great time and so many great memories.
Also, there is a handful of Under The Blade & Red Sunrise (First Run) cassettes, never opened, that may be sold in the future. Additionally, a few rare promo 45's "Vinal".
33 years ago for UTB and 30 years ago for RS.

The lead singer has gone in a different direction. He is my FB friend. Don't bother him about Christianity.

Don't bother him about Christianity or Jesus? Big difference.

Great news! Looking forward to getting my hands on a remastered version of Red Sunrise. I have the "Retrospect" records reissue from several years back and I'm almost certain it was never remastered (or even authorized).

I think I only have a ripped copy of your Retrospect bootleg!

I remember this band. I got a letter from the singer when I was a teen he was very encouraging and promised to come to my church if they ever came to my town. Unfortunately didn't happen
