Re: Random thoughts...
I feel terribly hungover... we lost our oldest dog Sunday evening, and got it back at 7 AM on Monday. In the meantime, I got like 1,5 hours sleep, spent a little time contacting some facebook pages about missing pets and the rest of the time I spent on my bicycle, searching the area. Turned out he fell in a hole on the university campus (very nearby) and couldn't come out.
Anyway, we have him back now.

Re: Random thoughts...
Find it funny how you have those friends on Facebook that never really comment or like anything, but as soon as you say something they disagree with, they are right there to tell you that you are wrong. :/

You are totally out of line and off-base here; nobody does that!

I don't see how you folks in Cali do it. I don't think I have the faith to survive there.

You see, this was Al Capone's big mistake. He should have just been a democrat and would have gotten away with it all.Kerrick wrote:

Re: Random thoughts...
My boss and his wife were going to go see some Pink Floyd cover band tonight but weren't able to make it so Veronika and I are going instead! Fun. I'm looking forward to it, though admittedly I am only familiar with their bigger hits.

Well, apparently it went quite well because this Saturday we got a letter in the mail welcoming Veronika to America alongside her green card! Wahoo!

Oh, I guess it's just different mindsets. Cali wants to take your guns, then they'll come after your beer. Many Texans believe guns and beer are both birthrights.
Tennesseans, too. We will even show up in Texas to defend their right to keep guns and beer. Remember the Alamo!!!!

^Solidarity!
Thank you!
Ha, well she's not a full-on Yank, just mostly. She's planning on keeping her Slovak nationality (and therefore her European passport) but is a legal resident of the US with all the perks (and disadvantages) of being a US citizen with just a few exceptions. She can work here, travel freely, and all that, but can't buy a gun (though I have enough for the both of us haha), can't vote, and can't serve on jury duty.

I'm debating obtaining French citizenship through my dad. I wonder if it's worth it, because I want to be able to live in France maybe someday.
Re: Random thoughts...
^You'd have dual citizenship then, yeah? From what I've been told, having a European passport is a very nice commodity. If you can, I think you might as well! If Slovakia allowed its citizens to have dual citizenship, then I think Veronika would go for that.

My Dutch passports allows me to go live in Germany no problem.
One of the reasons I'm not 100% anti EU.

Re: Random thoughts...
This is really tiring. I like a Dutch orthodox reformed newspaper on facebook (it is part of my legacy after all, besides I sympathize with them), and they recently got slammed for disapproving of the recent instatement of gay marriage in Germany. Apparently, they did not read statistics about the support of the people, which isn't that good of course, but lots of people made it seem they gave low ratings only for that, which is very inconsistent of course; they didn't like the opinion. Anyway, I began (politely!) questioning the people who gave them bad reviews, and the hate I got was astounding. I just gave up on someone who pretended to want to know what the Bible says about the subject; apparently he is a liberal christian. As soon as he saw I did not run out of arguments, he began to personally insult me by "psychoanalyzing" me (and not very good at that). Worst case of projection I have seen in a while, but well... I really had to restrain myself from making low blows, so I kept being polite. But there's a limit, so I stopped talking to him. Yes, I'm stupid for disagreeing with someone on facebook about gay "marriage".
It just became clear to me once more that we are indeed strangers on this earth.

We watched our town's local fireworks display last night from the parking lot of our Dollar General. Man, you have got to love small town living sometimes!
Re: Random thoughts...
Fun fact for all you closet alt-righters: "kek" is a semi-archaic Dutch word which means "cool".
