Who is your favorite Angelica vocalist
Angelica - Favorite vocalist
Dennis Cameron's band Angelica had a constant change in the vocalist department (Well to be fair, almost all of the band members besides Dennis constantly changed). I listened to my old tape of Rock, Stock & Barrel earlier today (not a bad album at all hearing it for the first time in awhile). It got me thinking. Who is your favorite Angelica vocalist?

Rob Rock...
The self titled debut is the only Angelica album I listen to, for the most part. I will throw on RS&B maybe once every five years.

Mazza because Walkin' In Faith is my fave release
Rob Rock is way more unique of a vocalist
but because Walkin rocks so good I pick him

I like Rob, Jerome & Drew equally for what they brought to each album. I appreciate all "Forms" of Angelica...except for the drum machine

Mazza gets my vote, even though I haven't the slightest idea of what he looked like or what happened to him. I thought his voice fit Angelica's sound perfectly. I love "Walkin' In Faith", still one of my all-time favorites.
Baca was a good replacement for Mazza, I enjoy his vocals too.
I like Rob Rock, but I personally don't think he was the right vocalist for Angelica's sound. Just my two cents...

I went with Tamplin. That one song is so good. His voice is just nearly perfect for melodic metal, and fit Cameron's music like a glove. I enjoy Drew Baca quite a bit as well. I would love to see him singing again.

I went with Drew as my favorite release was "Rock, Stock, & Barrel". I felt that they band had finally found the sound that made them unique with this lineup.
On the list of vocalists, though, Dennis Cameron was left off. He sang a couple of the songs on Angelica's final release.

I thought all the vocalists were great, except for Dennis. He never should have sang on that last album.

I voted Mazza.
I love everything Rob Rock is involved in and I think I like the s/t Angelica album at least equal to Walkin In Faith but like Pathogenic said Mazza's vocals fit the sound perfectly.
Baca is a good vocalist too, I just don't like Time Is All It Takes as well (I don't have Rock, Stock, & Barrel).

Wow, I'm surprised to see Jerome leading this one. I was sure Rob Rock would run away with it.

I'm surprised Jerome is leading as well, although Walkin' In Faith is my favorite of the Angelica albums. There's just something that really gels on that album. I don't even mind the drum machine (which is rare for me).

Re: Angelica - Favorite vocalist
Actually Tamplin was the lead on the WHOLE Demo tape in 1988 but Andy Lyon took over on the S.O.S. tape and then Tamplin did only one song on the Selftitled and Rob Rock did the Rest of the leads on that album. My favorite album is Walkin In Faith so Jerome got My Vote I never got Rock, Stock, And Barrell, a mistake I will correct some day, but on Time Is All It Takes Drew Baca fits so will, as did Mazza that I honestly thought it was the same vocalist.Follower of Jesus wrote:I went with Tamplin. As far as I knew, the singer for Walking in faith, rock stock and Barrel and Time is all it takes were the same guy. Can someone say Who sang in which album?

Then I can tell that Jerome Mazza and Drew Baca sound very much alike!
Dennis also sang in the Cover me introduction on Rock, Stock and Barrell.bjorn agin wrote:Staybrite wrote:Dennis also sang lead on a few of the songs from "Time is All it Takes"

And Ken Tamplin sang in the demo as well, just after Andy Lyon left the band, if I am not mistaken.

Rob Rock hands down.
I LOVE Cliffy's remaster of the s/t debut. He did a great job with this one. The remaster was supposed to be for the Intense Millennium release, which as we all know, never happened.

I don't know about that. They sound different to me, although I suppose there are some similarities.
(The color tint on the Cover Me video is jacked up for some reason)

How come no one else picked up the baton on this one and ran with it? Namely, Roxx or Retroactive?

Re: Angelica - Favorite vocalist
I don't think Dennis sounded that bad on the songs from Time Is All It Takes...he usually lets Baca take over on the parts that required more range, namely the choruses (i.e. Carry Me).
I've wondered if that was him singing the first verse of "All I Can Do" but I'm thinking its Mazza most likely.

Doing a bit of searching about Jerome Mazza.
http://www.christianmusicarchive.com/artist/jerome-mazza has this tidbit.
And I found this.

Where are they Now:
Hello, Jerome Mazza here. I was the lead singer for the band Angelica for the Walking In Faith album and featured on the 1993 Angelica Greatest Hits.
I spent about a decade in Los Angeles doing everything from album projects to commercials to movie songtracks and songwriting.
After my stay in L.A. I returned back to my home in Florida and started a business involving commercial loan lending. I am now a private investor.
I'm still jamming and singing in Florida and am available for the right studio project.
And I found this.

Re: Angelica - Favorite vocalist
bjorn again, I did a little Googling of my own and discovered that the song in the video was written by John & Dino Elefante. I thought it had their style on it. I wonder if John is doing a new album and this might be one of the tracks......
