Favorite Thrash Vocalist? (Christian or Secular)

Blitz for me.

I'm not as knowledgeable on thrash as many of the other members of this forum, but my initial answer is James Hetfield. His voice is just iconic. I like how he sounds on the earlier Metallica albums, but I also like the way his vocals evolved to a different sound on Death Magnetic, for example.

Guy Ritter. Or Chaz Bond (Biogenesis isn’t pure thrash, but that is probably the biggest influence)

Both good picks. Those early Metallica and early TQT albums wouldn’t sound the same with anyone else.

It's fascinating to me how polarizing (pun fully intended) his vocals on that one are.

Thinking about this more, it is interesting to me how little vocals matter to me in thrash. Good vocals are nice, but tolerable vocals are fine too. I am way pickier about vocals in other types of music, including other types of metal.

thrash bands like overkill or exodus etc never understood how people can enjoy that nasally hello-my-name-is-gonzo style of vocal that is so prevalent in Thrash.

I think I am still getting accustomed to falsettos, but ngl, Guy's falsettos on StB almost cross the line into song/album ruining territory for me. I'm not even sure the album would make it into my top 5 Tqt albums anymore.

I actually prefer Luke’s singing voice over Guy’s, although Guy is really iconic.

I am pretty picky about vocals in thrash. I don’t generally like the shouting/barking vocals a lot of bands use. Some exceptional thrash bands can make extreme vocals fit well (for example Adorned Graves and Biogenesis) but for most it just sounds boring to me

 Polarizing vox for sure. I get why people don't like it. I'm deranged I guess. What about DC? I love his vox on that album the most probably.

I forgot to mention the only thrash band I like with that clean high style is Deliverance Jimmy voice and tone is A+

I don’t mind his vocals on DC and RutE at all. Those were actually the first VR albums I heard.
