Re: Steven Patrick - Red Reign
It's a really good....not great....album that was to have been HS3, at least in part. That Winds of September is a GREAT song, but is David Zaffiro's on a different label, so I'm not sure how difficult it would be to get rights to it.

It is my understanding that the rites to "Red Reign" are held by the artist, who has no intention of re-releasing it.
Following are several quotes from Stephen Patrick at the Holy Soldier Fan Forum made in December of 2006:

Following are several quotes from Stephen Patrick at the Holy Soldier Fan Forum made in December of 2006:
Just wanted to clarify that this album ( Red Reign) has not been reissued or re-released, nor have I given license to anyone to do so. My attorney is looking into the matter and I have sent a letter as well. There are no plans to re-release this album, as it is a collectors item and was originally sold in a limited quantity with that intention. Any new Steven Patrick albums in the future will also be released in a limited quantity and will not be re-issued.
I have had a lot of retro record companies who want to re-release this album and I have said no to all of them. I didn't make the album with the intention of making money, but as a collectors item of previously unreleased material that I had written and recorded from 1991 to 1994. As far as the attorney, I have an attorney within my family that takes care of any legal issues that could ever come up and that includes music as well, and he simply does and pursues what I don't have the time or the resorces to pursue. So hes just looking into the matter for me to protect what is mine and to protect the value of the CD for those who purchased it through E-bay or when it was or originally offered.

I don't understand that, why would any artist not want to get their art to the people that want it; "collectors item?"

People just obtain a copy via download when artists take unreasonable positions like this. Not saying its right, but still...

I suppose I can understand this in terms of art painting, but I would think musically one would want it into the hands of as many as possible...

You know, I am against ilegal downloads on internet, however, when it is not possible to get a legal copy of something, then I guess it is alright to do such a thing.Follower of Jesus wrote:People just obtain a copy via download when artists take unreasonable positions like this. I can't understand Steven Patrick's point of view. This is not about money, this about music and what's the use for music if people can't listen to it? Music is to be heard by many people as possible.

Re: Steven Patrick - Red Reign
If it is not about the money but the art, then let the record companies rerelease it for free and then get the money for the rerelease.
Re: Steven Patrick - Red Reign
Yes I have tried he is definitely not interested so you'll have to find an eBay copy unfortunately. I had a bunch of cool stuff in mind too for a reissue with some stuff in my archive, would have been nice.
Re: Steven Patrick - Red Reign
I can understand that if he released it as a special collectors item, then his rereleaseing it will lower the value of the originals (not sure how much tho). It's this way with art.
Re: Steven Patrick - Red Reign
A friend gave me an mp3 copy a while back. I didn't like it.

Re: Steven Patrick - Red Reign
I just checked eBay and there are two copies listed: One for $90 + $3 shipping, and the other for $69 + $8 shipping. I don't understand Steven's reluctance to reissue this at all. I think he's being ridiculous.

Or maybe Steven Patrick owns those copies!

This is probably about that he hasn't realized that we are living in a digital age. He might hear about mp3's but thinking CD's in his head. I totally understand releasing a collector's item for his fans and not wanting to betray it's exclusivity by re-releasing it later. The thing is that he could simply re-release the music as a digital download that wouldn't take away from the original's collector value.Thiago-Brazil wrote:I can't understand Steven Patrick's point of view. Here's some HS demos Steven put up. The last one Lake of fire is my favorite. Almost a 3rd HS album. Yes I know Promise Man out but don't count it as a HS album

I'm thankful to be one of the lucky few owners of this album. Honestly though I thought it had a few good songs but didn't enjoy it as much as Holy Soldiers first two albums.

I have often wondered the same thing many times. I would think the greatest thrill for an artist would be for people to ENJOY his work.
