Take It to the Cross/Nailed. Some wouldn't consider it an album, but I do, and while it's not bad, the guitar tone is weird and the songs are way to short for me to love it

Take Up Your Cross
and those were demos after all
Re: Top 10 The Crucified songs!
Ig, but it's got 21 (or 20 because I Want to Be a Bug isn't really a song) songs that weren't on any official albums, so I include it.Raegoul wrote:Those are demos bruh.StevenCressler wrote:Take It to the Cross/Nailed. Either way... I wanna hear your top 10s!

I love each and every song on both albums. Power of God is dope too. Demos are meh. Btw the demos are hardcore punk hence the short track length.StevenCressler wrote:Ig, but it's got 21 (or 20 because I Want to Be a Bug isn't really a song) songs that weren't on any official albums, so I include it.Raegoul wrote:Those are demos bruh.StevenCressler wrote:Take It to the Cross/Nailed. Dang it, I was trying so hard to remember to include Power of God, and I still forgot...Raegoul wrote:I love each and every song on both albums. Power of God is dope too. Demos are meh. The two official studio albums are excellent. I love all the songs! I may like some songs slightly more, but not enough to compile a list.
Those two albums are among the few Christian metal albums that have no filler songs! The Crucified was my introduction to Christian thrash. The punk influence helped separate them from the typical Stryper style bands. I like Stryper… but they weren’t cutting it back in the days when thrash was rising in popularity and steamrolling over the glam bands. 1986-1991 was the golden era.
Of course back in 1990, God had a band to minister to almost every metal style and genre. But The Crucified just had the total package for a kid my age. I regret not seeing them in concert back when they were together in their heyday, but at least I caught them at one of their reunion shows around 2009. The reunion show was in a church, so no moshing was allowed. But from the video footage I’ve seen at Cornerstone, it was the opposite. They let the fans go crazy in the pit (without violence). I knew a kid at my high school that seen them play at a secular club. He wasn’t a Christian, but he said he loved their show! The Crucified were winning over people everywhere they played.
It’s unfortunate they weren’t able to make a third album.

Straining Life is pretty good too. But yeah, Power of God is tight!
They could have made a final EP worth of songs in that style.

Re: Top 10 The Crucified songs!
BEFORE YOU SPEAK, OR EVEN OPEN YOUR MOUTH,
YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!
(Tho, while I still love the song, the next two lines are kinda dumb when you think about it bc
Before you even deny the God Who saved my life
Know the power of God
Is Alive
Basically boils down to "before you say God isn't real, think about this: he is real.)

I love every song equally on their two full lengths. They're perfect albums, IMO. Power of God and Straining Life are also amazing. The Crucified had to break up, because this world doesn't allow perfection to exist for long.
I haven't heard the demos since that compilation came out, so I should probably give those a spin again sometime.

The Crucified could do no wrong in my eyes!
Every song is a mosh pit igniter and they stand the test of time.
