I have never been in a church that flags.  For me, I would find it incredibly distracting and probably would not attend a church where they were waving these or had a dance team.  It seems like too much of a show.

While "flagging" isn't my personal cup o'tea, I don't understand all the goofy aversion to it. The whole "He raises a banner over me in love" > all the silly qualms and objections imo.

I'm in the "it's distracting" camp and I personally wouldn't attend a church that does it.  But if that's your "normal" and how you worship, go for it!  Who am I to judge?

My current church occasionally waves the flags, mainly from the far right side of the stage. It's not overly distracting nor inhibitive to worship.

When you worship in spirit; whether with instruments or flags or whatever; The Lord looks at your heart …not your outward appearance. I don’t think God minds some flags being waved to honor him as long as you are worshipping with a repentant and humble heart.
It might be a distraction at first, but I think if you are truly worshipping The Lord, it shouldn’t matter to you. I think there are so many things that we do as human beings that are far worse than waving a flag to worship God. I don’t find anything in The Bible to refute this form of worship.  I could be wrong though. These  are just my thoughts.

1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV
”But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”“
‭‭
”And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,“
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God doesn't just accept anything and everything we want to do in worship. It matters that we worship in spirit and in truth. Nothing is said of the thoughts and intents in the hearts of Nadab and Abihu, only that they offered up strange fire, which the Lord did not command.

I don’t buy the “regulative worship” idea, I think it pulls way too heavily from the strict ceremonialism of the Old Testament. At that time God was not approachable, only under the strictest ceremonial conditions could even the high priest approach Him. How that Jesus tore the veil, all believers may “boldly” approach the throne of God, and He does not give the strict ceremonial guidelines for worship in the New Testament that He gave in the old

I do agree that “anything we want” is too permissive though. I would say anything that is edifying and actually glorifies God
