Yeah. The main problem is I've had that solo for like a year and still don't have a good rhythm riff to go with it.TZ75 wrote:The main riff sounds good and memorable. The solo needs some work… but overall, I like it.

We've talked about it, as we both use BandLab. It would certainly be cool.seth wrote:Steven and CTR should collab and make some music, Steven wants to make thrash but doesn’t have a guitar, and CTR has one and is working on thrash riffs

I’ve said the same thing.
I suggested they call the project “15 to Midnight”.

That would certainly be a better name than than the only other Christian metal band started by teenagers I can think of, BrotalityTZ75 wrote:seth wrote:Steven and CTR should collab and make some music, Steven wants to make thrash but doesn’t have a guitar, and CTR has one and is working on thrash riffs

I thought that was just a variant fatality from Mortal Kombat.

Yeah, I just thought they are both 15…
Using the word Midnight makes it sound metal!

I agree. The main reason is it doesn't really fit with the rhythm guitar. I'm working on a better solos though.strangerhoncho wrote:Yeah, that solo sounds drunk!TZ75 wrote:The main riff sounds good and memorable. The solo needs some work… but overall, I like it.

Re: New Christian Thrash!
I'm working on starting a christian thrash band (just need a bassist, rhythm guitarist, drummer, and singer lol) and the name I have in mind is Defector. I got it from the Petra song.seth wrote:That would certainly be a better name than than the only other Christian metal band started by teenagers I can think of, BrotalityTZ75 wrote:seth wrote:Steven and CTR should collab and make some music, Steven wants to make thrash but doesn’t have a guitar, and CTR has one and is working on thrash riffs

I think you are stronger at rhythm guitar than solos.
But I hope you prove us wrong.

Re: New Christian Thrash!
I have some other solos that are more unique. That specific solo has been with me for like a year, I can't find a good riff to go with it for some reason. As soon as I can I'll post my solo for Mulligan Stew - VR on here. (Tabs are non-existent for VR so you have to figure it out by yourself and solos aren't easy to figure out so you gotta make your own)Dustofyears wrote:Heck give him some time, he's only 15. I can hear with a couple more years and some dedication he'll get there. What I will say though, I get you like Metallica a whole bunch, but if you can try and find your own voice. The solo sounds like a Kirk Wammett clone. Try find your own tone and voice on the instrument. And also, your influences are going to change as you go along, so combine them and find your voice in that... it takes time, and time is on your side right now.

Re: New Christian Thrash!
For me, I've always been a bit too influenced by Deliverance... especially my vocals (I know you can't hear that much on the single I posted, but if you go to the slower songs on the album, you can tell). My mom has told me before that I don't have my own accent in my songs because I'm trying to sound too much like Jimmy... consciously, I'm not trying to, but she is correct.Dustofyears wrote:Heck give him some time, he's only 15. I'd say my main influences are Deliverance, Metallica, Tourniquet, System of a Down, Skillet, Red, and Megadeth, with some Believer too, though I try to add my own flavor without being just a mix of all those bands (and for anyone scared by seeing Skillet on there, they're mainly what started by obsession with symphonic rock/metal, hence why I list them).

Maybe not exactly symphonic rock, but they have some top-tier violin riffs... these are my three favorites, the violin riffs are right at the beginning (and it's also a real violin)Black Rider wrote:I've never seen Skillet listed as symphonic rock so I'm curious why you think that?

Re: New Christian Thrash!
Makes sense too, because the Skillet frontman was trained in classical music. That's his background. I read an interview in HM years ago where he said he only chose to do rock because there was more chance of success and to reach people than classical music.StevenCressler wrote:Maybe not exactly symphonic rock, but they have some top-tier violin riffs... these are my three favorites, the violin riffs are right at the beginning (and it's also a real violin)Black Rider wrote:I've never seen Skillet listed as symphonic rock so I'm curious why you think that?
