I almost added Bride (they're a personal fav of mine), but they deviated too far off the trad metal path.
The first Bride album is definitely metal!
But then they went more bluesy with a Guns N Roses influence.
I would say the first 3 Bride are well within the metal sphere.
Starting with Kinetic Faith, they went for that whole GNR/Aerosmith/Zeppelin vibe. They were great at that too.
Actually, think what one may of their stylistic "experimentation", Bride excelled at whatever genre they went through.
That said, I'm glad they finally found their way back to playing stuff influenced by their earlier albums.
They dabbled in rap metal?
I didn’t know that…

Fist Full of Bees. It's a bad attempt to cash in on the trend.

The first three Bride were great. Never cared too much for the obviously GnR-inspired stuff they adopted afterwards with a few exceptions, my favorite songs from later albums are all from Skin for Skin

I agree, the first three are great and the later albums was just a song here and there. It's hard for me to listen to Dale sing anymore, he's involved in way too many projects. Just hearing he's a guest on an album makes me not want to hear it. Maybe I'll get past it somedayseth wrote:The first three Bride were great. For the most part I’d agree, but he sounds incredible on the Adorned Graves songs that feature him (such as Effervescent Torrent and Valley of Achor). Rougher, thrash-type vocals rather than the Axl Rose impression you often hear from himLegitwafflez wrote:I agree, the first three are great and the later albums was just a song here and there. I like Adorned Graves, I thought their regular vocalist was great, didn't understand the need to bring in guests. I suppose I'll need give them a 2nd chance.seth wrote:For the most part I’d agree, but he sounds incredible on the Adorned Graves songs that feature him (such as Effervescent Torrent and Valley of Achor). Although I liked their first album (with just the guitarist and drummer providing vocals I think), I honestly think they did right bringing in guest vocalists, and the guests played a big part in the greatness of their second and especially third album (which is my favorite by far). Apparently they are looking for a full time vocalist, according to an interview I saw

Cool, I'll give the songs with Dale a second chance. I haven't checked out the newest album yet but I definitely will.seth wrote:Although I liked their first album (with just the guitarist and drummer providing vocals I think), I honestly think they did right bringing in guest vocalists, and the guests played a big part in the greatness of their second and especially third album (which is my favorite by far). It’s definitely worth it, contested for my all time favorite album. Pretty much all the songs sound quite unique from each other as well

That's my list for today, all of these bands are still putting out quality albums.

I love GnR and prefer to listen to the original band of that sound. But O boy, Dale had a set of pipes on him back then. He reeked of Rock star too (in a good way).

The depth of my knowledge of Christian black metal stops at that band on the Rowe compilation album that had one song, Horde and Crimson Moonlight...and maybe a couple of others. I like that Horde album though, and even though it's an obvious Dark Throne knock off, I like better than anyhting from Dark THrone.Pethead wrote:I'm waiting on Kerrick to start a thread on the Big 4 of Post-Black Metal...

Pretty sure Kerrick’s big 4 are just his four favorite Slayer albums
