Best Christian Thrash Band
Best Christian Thrash Band?
Who is the best Christian Thrash Band? If you vote please give your reasoning and if you vote "Other" please tell us which band you think is best. I know Theocracy isn't Thrash but they have a decent amount of Thrash influence. I vote Tourniquet. I love Vengeance Rising more, but they only have four albums, and only like two.

TQT, by a large margin. Best riffs, most compelling songwriting, great lyrics. One of the only Christian thrash bands that can stand up to the big boys in the secular realm.

Mosaic has some thrash-influenced riffing. But yeah, they are nowhere near being a thrash band.Temple of Blood wrote:Theocracy has no thrash influence.

What was the “other” vote? I’m thinking Torn Flesh.

Hardly.
Speed does not equal thrash.
Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
They def have thrash influence. Laying The Demon To Rest(especially the bridge), Paper Tiger(especially the verse), Nailed(main riff has a Blackened sound), Stir The Embers(main riff). And a lot more, the final part of The Gift Of Music is a little thrashy. The drums have always felt somewhat thrashy to me.Pethead wrote:Mosaic has some thrash-influenced riffing. I agree. That's not why they feel thrash influenced. That may be part of it but far from the only thing.Temple of Blood wrote:Christian Thrash Rules wrote:Highly debatable.Temple of Blood wrote:Theocracy has no thrash influence.

Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
Stir the Embers main riff is literally a better version of War Ensemble riff. And LtDtR middle section has a riff that wouldn't feel out of place on Scrolls. They aren't a thrash band at all. But they have thrash influencesTemple of Blood wrote:Theocracy has no thrash influence.
Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
Tourniquet is the best, but I voted Deliverance because they're my favorite.

Yes. Also, Castaway from Ghost Ship is pretty thrashy. Kinda reminds me of something off Hardwired.StevenCressler wrote:Stir the Embers main riff is literally a better version of War Ensemble riff. Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
Playing a kind of riff doesn't make you thrash, otherwise Judas Priest would be thrash.

I agree, that’s why I specified they have thrash influenced riffing, but are in no way a thrash band.

Ik. I agree that they aren't thrash. I'm just saying it's not true that they have no thrash influencesBlack Rider wrote:Playing a kind of riff doesn't make you thrash, otherwise Judas Priest would be thrash.

better? Not at all.
They used half of the same chords and gave it a hard rock/groovier feel.
Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
But they don't really, more NWOBHM influence at times.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:Again, I said "they're not thrash, they have thrash influence"Black Rider wrote:Playing a kind of riff doesn't make you thrash, otherwise Judas Priest would be thrash.

Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
Early thrash had a ton of NWOBHM sound. Theocracy has a few riffs that wouldn’t be out of place on one of those early thrash records.Black Rider wrote:But they don't really, more NWOBHM influence at times.Christian Thrash Rules wrote:Again, I said "they're not thrash, they have thrash influence"Black Rider wrote:Playing a kind of riff doesn't make you thrash, otherwise Judas Priest would be thrash.
But I don’t think they have enough to classify them as anywhere near a thrash band.

Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
When I first heard the War Ensemble riff the exact riff I was hoping it would turn into was the one used in Stir the Embers. The one with the melodic sting after the step-climbing chordsTemple of Blood wrote:StevenCressler wrote:Stir the Embers main riff is literally a better version of War Ensemble riff.Temple of Blood wrote:Theocracy has no thrash influence.

Re: Best Christian Thrash Band?
Some of these riffs wouldn’t sound out of place on those early 80s thrash albums, especially the riff that comes in around the 20 second mark. Now it’s not a thrash song by any means, but I hear some influence here:
